Nobel Peace Prize

Many people are wondering why the first African-American President of the United States of America has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, but my question is why not.

President Obama said Friday that he was "surprised and deeply humbled" by the decision of the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award him the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

The committee said it honored Obama for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."

Obama said he viewed the decision less as a recognition of his own accomplishments and more as "a call to action." Take a look at the video here:

  1. I think it's just a tad ironic that he would receive the Nobel PEACE prize, when he is currently head of a nation at war... so I can understand why some people might be a little confused by this. But whatever... good for him! I think I'd have to keep that prize money though lol.
