eyeRemember: Aaliyah

Nine years have passed and today marks the anniversary of the passing of one of music's talents, Aaliyah Dana Haughton. She brought a refreshing sound to R&B, and was loved by the fellow artists in the game. She's given us great music since she was just a teenager, and I'm sure you would agree by me saying that she left us too soon. But everything happens for a reason, and though we won't be able to see what she would have blossomed into, she left us with a great lasting impression. Stay in peace Aaliyah, you are missed.

What's your favorite Aaliyah song?

Birth of Autotunes

Remember singing in front of the fan, and sounding like autotunes way before it was popular? Oh memories.

BRINGIN' IT BACK...SKIP IT!

OMG it's SKIP IT! Yes, my throwback/throw it in the bag item of the week. I used to love the Skip It commercial and always wanted one. I remember battling the girls on the block to see who could get the most points...because "the very best thing of all is the counter on this ball! Skip it, skip it"...Happy Watching!

...to be disContinued

As I get "older" I start to think of those things that were accessible to me in the past that are no longer available. Yes, those discontinued items that I used to love to ask my mom for at the grocery store, or the things that I just had to have (because everyone else did in school)...but where are they now? Here are some items that I want back:

Hot pockets pot pie express! I don't really like hot pockets, but the chicken and turkey pot pie express were The shiznit! I don't know why they got rid of them, but whatever.

If you know me you know how much I love Charmed! This show was the best and had a great eight year run. I'm was so mad when I heard that the show was in it's final season because it definitely could've kept on going for at least three more seasons. But I guess it's better to end on a high note.

I think I had to be in the 9th grade when Sprite Remix came out. I remember getting off of the bus after school and going to the store to buy one. We literally used to hide them so no one else could buy them. LOL I know that's a bit much, but you gotta do what you gotta do! The Sprite Remix became a "summer" soda and that was the end of that run!

Bop iT! This was one of the greatest games ever created! Remember when it was just "Bop it, Pull it, Twist it...and pass it"? Then they got all fancy and added the "Spin it" and "Flick it"; which were pretty cool, but man I miss the original. I just saw a commercial for a newer version. I hated playing with people that always messed up when the beat really started to speed up, didn't you?

And last but not least...SPICE GIRLS LOLLIPOPS! I know the ladies remember these! I think I was in the 4th or 5th grade when the Spice Girls were poppin'. And of course you can't forget the stickers of your favorite Spice Girl inside and putting them on your binder or notebook. Scary Spice and Sporty Spice were my faves, but if I had to choose now I would definitely be Posh Spice lol.

That all for now. What are some of your favorite things that have been discontinued?

eyeRemember: Childhood Memories

When you look at the younger generation today there really doesn't seem like there is much of a "childhood" anymore. These young kids grow up so fast, have babies, try to act older for attention, get locked up, or end up killed by a young age. What happened to just being a kid? It seems as though that era of childhood is null and void by the age of 11 or 12. Nowadays kids have cell phones by the age of ten, lose their virginity by 13 and are just completely wild by 15.

eyeRemember:
*Not having a cell phone
*Having a curfew (not really)
*Being on punishment
*When we actually communicated instead of texting
*Where playing outside and doing activities came way before sitting in front of a computer screen all day
*Watching cartoons
*Being able to play kickball and double-dutch without worrying about getting shot
*When we had to beg people outside for $.25 to get chips or a quarter juice from the store
*Coming outside after the first day of school just to chill
*When your brother or sister had a kid at the age of 22+
*When people had dreams to be something in life
*Just enjoying a kid and having fun

Where did these days go? What are some memories that you have about being a kid?
