Behemoth

\ bih-HEE-muhth \ , noun;

1. Any creature or thing of monstrous size or power

2. An animal, perhaps the hippopotamus, mentioned in the Book of Job.

Example: When I make it, I'll cash all of my checks and sit on a behemoth mountain of money! [not sure if I used it correctly considering its a noun and I used it as an adjective, but you get the point]

@kanyewest, the Social Mediator

It' Wednesday and time for the W.O.W. moment.

Kanye West gave folks at the Facebook headquarters a taste of what to expect on his fifth upcoming album. West performed some straight-up a capella rhymes at the Facebook offices in Palo Alto, California and the overcapacity whale crew at Twitter. Kanye was planning on naming his album Good A** Job; however, announced on Twitter, yes he's on twitter, that "The album is no longer called "Good A** Job" I'm bouncing a couple of titles around now". People have been tweeting away, almost as if it were a holiday because Kanye joined twitter. As of right now, he isn't following anyone, but we're sure he'll find entertainment in reading his mentions. Take a look at the video below entitled "Mama's Boyfriends". Happy watching...and following. [Beware of excessive use of the "N" word, but he's clearly "allowed to say" it ;)]

10 Ways to Inspire

Today's "Toast to Repost" will leave you inspired and ready to inspire others...enjoy!

Top Ten Ways to Inspire Others to Be Their Best
by Michael Angier

We all know people who are inspiring. But just how does one inspire others? Here are ten simple ways you can inspire people to be their best:

1. Be a good example. People watch what you do more than they listen to what you say. Be someone worth emulating.

2. Care about others. People don’t care about how much you know until they know how much you care. Ask questions. Take a genuine interest in people.

3. Encouragement. Everyone goes through tough times. When you support people and encourage them through these times, you’ll be inspiring them to see the best in themselves and in the situation.

4. Be inspired yourself. Look for people, ideas, environments and knowledge that you find inspiring and motivating.

5. Share from your own experience. You have more to share than you realize. Mine the rich experiences of your life and share your wisdom from your unique point of view. You may be the only one who can touch someone with your inspiring message.

6. Be vulnerable. Be willing to share your failures as well as your successes. Others will relate to you. They’ll understand that they’re not the only ones with challenges.

7. Tell stories. Facts tell and stories sell. They inspire, too. We learn best from parables and we all need to develop our own inspiring stories.

8. Be a good communicator. Increasing your ability to communicate effectively is a critical element for you to inspire others. Watch how you speak and what you say. Invest in your communication skills.

9. Challenge people. Many of us have had teachers who at times seemed more like tormentors than mentors. They challenged us to do our best, and we were better for it. Practice "carefrontation" —the careful and caring confrontation of others.

10. Read. It may not follow that all readers are leaders, but certainly all leaders are readers. Stay informed. Share what you read with others. Tell people about books that have inspired you. Share the knowledge.

I hope these ten tips help you to inspire someone to become a better them!

Spread love. Live life. Be inspired.

eyeInspire: Get Bumped & Bruised

"But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds..." - Jeremiah 30:17

Many of us grow up with the leisure of having a parent, guardian, or family member act as a crutch to protect us. Do you remember the times when you played outside, tripped and fell? Who was the first person to rush to your aid to make sure you were okay? Maybe an older brother or sister, or mom or dad, right?

Now go back to the first day you tried to ride a bicycle without the training wheels. You remember saying "Don't let go", and as much as you trusted in the person teaching you, they said "I won't", and did it any way. You tried to maintain your balance, but tipped over and fell, scraped your elbow and knee and cried. You were mad at the fact that they let go, but you let them clean you up and put a bandage on the cut. You put your trust in them. Why is that? Whatever it was or is, you need to have that same trust in the Lord.

Many times it becomes easy for us to get mad at God because we wonder why He lets us get hurt. One thing we must realize is that God is the Alpha and the Omega. He's a protector, a teacher, and any and everything in between. So it's not that He is letting us get hurt with the intentions of not healing us; He's teaching us a lesson.
God allows us to get hurt so that He can heal us. Once we're healed, a scar remains for the remembrance of the lesson learned from that experience. If things aren't right in our lives God will always be there to patch them up. We must be accepting of His treatment and know that some cuts and bruises are deeper than others and all won't heal at once.

Today, ask God to heal you of the bruises you may have attained from a relationship that hurt you. Ask God for His remedy for a broken spirit. No one is perfect and everyone needs to get bumped and bruised in order to receive a healing from God. Be healed by The Word and apply this to your life.

Fall in Love, Twice

Estelle falls in love, not once, not twice, but three times with the premiere of her two new videos for the single. "Fall in Love" is off of her upcoming album All Of Me. Although the videos are extremely similar, they have one thing in common, Grey’s Anatomy actor, Jesse Williams. I love the song and though I love the John legend version more, Nas did what he does on his version too. The sound of John and Estelle together are stellar! So what are you waiting for, go and fall in love; Happy Watching!

eyeAsk: Who Wants to Be Pure?

Picture this: You're in the gym day after day working towards a goal. One day without thinking, you leave your iPod, or mp3 player of choice, there. The next day you return in the hopes that someone was kind enough to had placed it in the Lost & Found bin or had given it to the person in charge; but not all of us are that lucky. Someone just gained a new treasure. No worries, even though it costs a couple hundred dollars, it can be replaced. Great right?! Sure it is. Now, if this was only the case when it came to losing something like...your virginity. We can go on and on about the values that aren't being taught at home, or the lessons children miss out on from not having religion instilled in their lives at a young age, but reality is what it is.

Today eyeAsk:
Is it too much to wait for marriage? What would it take for you to be celibate? Why does being pure lie heavier on a female's hands?

Some of you may, or may not know of some young celebrities in the entertainment industry who make it look cool to be who they are and believe in what they do. Angela Simmons, Jordin Sparks, and Teyana Taylor have both made it publicly know that they are saving themselves. Take a look at their past interview excepts:

Teyana Taylor: "I have a purity ring. The only time you get in trouble is if you attempt to do something. If you're laying up on a boy then something is going to happen. So I just keep my legs closed until I am ready for that. I can’t have a boyfriend because the only thing they want to do is have sex...You know many young girls think that virginity is lame and promiscuity is cool. They succumb to peer pressure and then find themselves in grown folks situations that they aren’t equipped to handle. I hold bible study class at St. Lukes church in Harlem when I’m home. I actually teach the class because I want them to know it's okay to praise God and keep your legs closed. I’m just trying to be a good example right now."

Angela Simmons: "Ok, the whole virginity thing came out because of the breakup I had previously. And on the show, of course, it came up that I was saving myself for marriage."
Honey: Is it weird that people know that now? AS: "Yeah, kind of. Do I care that much? Not really, because it’s not like it’s a bad thing. No, it’s not for everybody. Everybody doesn’t have to wait, but this is what I have to do in order to get a relationship where it’s all good. I just think that when the sex factor is taken out of the relationship, you really get to know a person."

"My parents gave me a purity ring and talked to me about waiting until I'm married to have sex. It wasn't forced; it just made perfect sense. "It's going to be awesome to say to my husband that I waited my whole life for him." - Jordin Sparks

I definitely think that these ladies are people young women should be looking up to. Especially since the age when girls are giving up their pureness to boys gets younger and younger every year. We live in a generation of 15 and 16-year-old mothers. Some other stars who plan on remaining "pure" are Justin Beiber, The Jonas Brothers, and Miley Cyrus. What's your opinion on the topic?

Eye Can’t BEElieve Them: Shirley Sherrod

Okay people, I know you have probably heard her story. But for those who don’t know the buzz around Shirley Sherrod, you might want to pay attention.

The former director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development in Georgia was forced to resign after a video was placed on Andrew Brietbart’s BigGovernment.com website.

The conservative posted the video showing Sherrod making “racist” comments regarding a white farmer that requested her assistance almost 20 years ago while she was working at a private advocacy firm.

The problem: the video was heavily edited.

In the post, she discusses how a farmer named Roger Spooner went to her because his land was being sold, and he had no means to regain control of it. Sherrod acknowledged that at first, he came off like he thought he was superior to her. She knew he was not going to receive support from other Black farmers, and she did not know if she had the power to do anything to help him. So, she thought it would be best to take him to a lawyer who looked like him if he wanted immediate help.

When the NAACP reposted the entire video, Sherrod is shown making comments that ‘poverty, not race, is a crucial component in rural development’, and that she learned from the experience. In fact, the farmer insisted on CNN that she tried to help him the best way that she could, and get this: THEY ARE FRIENDS UNTIL THIS DAY & THE FARMER DOESN’T EVEN KNOW WHERE THE CONTROVERSY CAME FROM.

Although the Obama administration fired her, they issued an apology and offered her job back in the department. She has not accepted thus far.

If you ask me, it was a mere set up to prove that racism can exist against whites. Instead, they made yet another innocent African-American a scapegoat to ignite unnecessary political RACIST drama.

Geniuses…NOT!

Ridiculous.

Drop a Buzz.

eyeInspire: Never Settle for Less

So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit.” - Galatians 6:9, The Message.

Everyone has God-given dreams and desires. We all have goals we want to accomplish, and situations we are believing will be turned around. Sometimes it seems to take longer than we originally thought. Sometimes, things don’t work out the way we planned, and it’s easy to lose enthusiasm. If we’re not careful, we’ll get discouraged and end up just settling where we are. But God doesn’t want us to settle, He wants to take us higher. But many times, people miss out on God’s best simply because they give up too soon. They don’t realize how close they are to their victory.

Don’t let that be you today. Don’t give up just because things seem hard. You’ve invested so much, and you never know, just a few more days of believing, another few weeks of doing the right thing, another few months of staying in faith, and you could see that situation turn around. Remember, God is on your side! Keep standing and keep believing because you are closer than you think to fulfilling every desire He’s placed inside of you!

Today you need to believe that God is working behind the scenes on your behalf. Ask Him to give you His strength to keep moving forward into the place of victory that He has for you.

LeToya & Luster See New Faces

We see celebrities get endorsements all of the time; Kobe with Nike, Drake with Sprite, and Beyoncé with L'Oreal. The most popular endorsement for female R&B artists lye in the beauty department. Keyshia Cole, former face of Lusters hair care products; has been replaced by former Destiny's Child member LeToya Luckett. When it was time to re-sign the already multi-million dollar deal, Keyshia pulled rank and asked for more money.

Luster's thoughts must have been this: "On to the next one", and signed a check over to Letoya Luckett. Not a bad move. Sorry Keish. All's fair in hair and war.

Drake Talks Looks vs. Music in Paper Mag

Drizzy Drake covers the new Paper Magazine. Inside he touches on some points that really stuck with me. I myself am a huge proponent of letting substance take precedent over looks. Now by no means am I cosigning anyting that doesn't add up to always being presentable; however, as you and I know things have gotten out of hand. People are not judged by whom they are, as much as how they look. I don't want to sound hypocritical, because I love a beautiful woman just as much as the next, but at some point we need to learn that looks aren't the end all be all. SUBSTANCE MATTERS. When weighing in with his POV Drizzy said:

"It’s funny — the thing that I hear the least is ‘Drake makes bad music.’ People always have something to say about the way I look or the way I dress. People nitpick at my physical appearance more than my music, which is fine with me because when I look in the mirror, I know I’m not an unattractive person."(theybf.com)

For some time now I have been telling people that I like this dude's music and persona. He has a simple vibe to him that's easy to support. He doesn't come across as a "build-a-bear", and when he speaks you can tell that he's sincere. Drake is realistic and down-to-earth, what more can you ask for?

It's lonely at the top, and with liberty comes responsibility and expectation; let Drake tell you:
"I wake up and I’m scared to flip my phone over because I don’t know what songs have leaked or what some girl has said what about me. I don’t let it show because I care too much about the people around me and I need them to feel like I’m solid. No matter how much I may be going crazy inside, I always keep my composure for the sake of the people around me."

How do you feel about the "image" factor that plays into the role of life; and the music industry? COMMENT!

Nicki Minaj Wants "Your Love"

It's safe to say that Nicki Minaj is the most loved and hated female MC in the industry right now. But today, she's in need of "Your Love". Sure some of us hate the kookiness, the colored wigs, and the voice; but truth is, every superhero has their theme music - and Nicki's is in heavy rotation. Not only that, but "Your Love" has been dominating the Billboard charts at #1! In the video Nicki plays a student Samurai who falls in love with her teacher; played by actor Michael Jai White (of the TP Why Did I Get Married films). It's a cute storyline and metaphoric in more than one way. The video was directed by Lil' X and followed Nicki's first visual. Check it out and let us know what you think. Happy watching!

ToP THiS: How Not to Care 101

Anyone who knows me personally, comes to learn that one of my favorite sayings is - "I don't care". This phrase alone often makes people wonder how I can be so nonchalant and careless about things that would get to the average person. There is no specific answer to that, but I can offer some tips/tactics on how to be nonchalant. It's as simple as saying "No" - unless you're a person who gives into people easily and end up saying "Yes" all of the time. It may sound harsh, but when it comes down to it, you have to look out for yourself first, or before you know it, you'll end up with your feelings hurt and the other person without a care in the world. It's not that hard, just set all feelings aside and don't think about how the other person will be affected by you saying "I DON'T CARE!"

The nonverbal "I don't care": This consists of the screwed up face combines with the subtle rolling of the eyes. Or, the nod with the smirk or crooked smile that let's the person you're dealing with know that...YOU DON'T CARE! This will get to them most because you're not giving them any energy to feed off of. If you say something, you give them something to be mad at; but getting them mad withing uttering one word, that will have someone LIVID!

"I don't care" as reverse psychology: Out of all the ways one can say "IDC", I think this one cuts the deepest. Someone may do or say something to you that hurt your feelings, or just straight out blindsided you. Instead of beating yourself up wondering where it came from, just ask them (asking implies that you care). Let the person pour out their heart and tell their story, and once you've heard enough - even if you have to cut them off - say "Okay, I don't care. Thanks!"

The "I don't care" shrug: Similar to the "nonverbal IDC", the shrug adds somewhat of a sarcastic flare to your IDC. It's one of those "::shrug & walk away:: - So, you don't care - Nope" conversations. It's a small gesture, but it works.

"I don't care", the statement: We've all used this tactic at least once in our lives. Have you ever not cared so much that in your head you just want to scream to the person STFU?! Welp, here's your chance! Don't literally say STFU, just give them a strong "I DON'T CARE" and keep it moving. They may not get why you're upset, and it may seem like you care since you got so angry, but believe you me; you're whistling teapot will cool down after you release those three words.

"I don't care" as an answer to questions you don't want to answer: Although this tactic can be mean, sometimes it just needs to be done. Don't you hate it when people ask you questions they can find out on their own; i.e. Google?! I know I do, so to keep this from happening to me, I use the "I don't know, and I don't care" phrase as an answer; even if I know the answer to the question. Sure, you may be called mean, but hey, it happens. They'll know better than to ask you anything else ;).

What do you think about this topic? COMMENT, or not, IDC! ;)

JuNK FOOD: Ryan's Amazon Woman

Does height matter? Beauty is more than in the eye of the beholder. My grandma used to always say, "There's somebody for everybody." And Nicole Trunfio, girlfriend to singer Ryan Leslie, can be for a lot of guys. Who wants to argue with that? If you do, I think my insurance plan can cover our trip to the optics so you can get checked out. Okay, stop drooling and admit it.

There have been a couple wise cracks about Nicole's height, but last time I checked, that didn't matter at all. Dudes often say that they want to date a model, well how tall are they expecting them to be? There are standards with that come along with this. Personally I love a female with some height on her. It's not a prerequisite or anything, so let's not discriminate...That's so 90s. Worst case scenario only hang out when she has on flats. From good music to beautiful women, I guess he knows like Bo. Food for thought, you do the dishes.

eyeInspire: Reap What You Sow

Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.” - Galatians 6:7 NLT

Have you ever looked at a large, old tree and wondered how long it has been there? It’s amazing to think that at one point that gigantic tree was merely a tiny seed. In the same way, our words and actions are seeds. We will always reap a harvest on what we sow.

Think about the types of seeds you have been sowing. Are you sowing encouragement, hope, blessing, love? Then that’s what you’ll reap in the future. But if you’ve been sowing criticism, judgment and anger, you’re probably already reaping a bad harvest. It’s time to start changing your seed.

Today, I encourage you to pray and ask God to help you uproot any negative seeds you may have planted in the past, and begin sowing good seeds for your future. As you stay obedient to the Word of God, you’ll see those seeds grow. You’ll rise up higher and enjoy the harvest of blessing God has promised you.

Today, ask God to search your heart. Ask Him to show you any bad seeds that need to be uprooted. Ask Him to help you, by His Spirit, to plant good seeds for your future. And lastly, ask God to use you for His glory.

FASHiON FiGHT: Zoe Saldana vs. Eva Longoria

Zoe Saldana vs. Eva Longoria-Parker

These actresses battle it out in this edition of FASHiON FiGHT. Avatar star, Zoe Saldana, and "Desperate Housewife", Eva Longoria-Parker sported this grey Herve Leger Max Azria mini. The skin tight, form fitting cap sleeve dress and peplum detailing around the hips looked fabulous on both ladies!

Eva was the first to sport the mini while in Cannes, while shopping on May 13, 2010. She paired it with navy YSL Tribute Two shoes and a navy Birkin. Zoe wore the fall 2010 get-up at Bing’s Celebration for Creative Minds party in LA on June 22, 2010. She paired the outfit with pewter Ferragamo heels and a matching clutch.

eyeapplaud: Fishburne in 'Thurgood'

In one hour and 30 minutes, acclaimed actor Lawrence Fishburne moves an audience in his portrayal of the first Black Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall.

Through August 8th, Fishburne will place himself in the bold personality of the public figure at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, California, helping us to understand what it was like to endure a continuous struggle between the government and individual states.

What’s more is that for a story so powerful, the production is very simple. Fishburne wears a plain suit until the end when he sports judicial robes, and stands in front of a long wooden table, with occasional clips to help support what he says.

His performance is conscious and flawless.

In my opinion, I think Thurgood wouldn’t have adjourned this case.

J. Cole: The Warm Up, The Comp Up, The Rising Star

Imagine this: You're asked to write a verse on a song for Jay-Z's BluePrint III. Would you be nervous? Of course you would! Now imagine how J. Cole felt when he had to do it with Hov and Bey in attendance in the studio. I'm wiping sweat from my brow now and I wasn't there. Not only is that challenging, nerve-racking, and a privilege, but carrying the torch over at Roc Nation is no short task. Notably the most valuable artist, J. Cole has put together a nice track record of verses starting with a "Star is Born" on the BP 3.

Add to the list, his first single off his forthcoming untitled debut album, "Who Dat" (view video here). Besides those records, J. Cole has been on his grind with music for a while with his mixtape "The Warm Up" and "The Come Up"; which is how Jay heard him.

When asked about Jay-Z & Beyoncé in general, he says they are much more regular and down-to-earth than people imagine. I could imagine so, you know how life is much more is made about people than warranted in so many cases. The torch has been passed, and so far I've been impressed.

What are your thoughts on J. Cole?

eyeAsk: To Love or Not to Love, THAT is the Question

Relationships. Commitment. Boyfriend. Girlfriend. Wife. Husband. Lover. Friend. Romance. Passion. Sex. Loyalty. All of these things come to mind when we hear one word, LOVE. The word love means so many different things to so many different people. However, I think we can all agree that love can be a complex thing. Whenever you enter a relationship, you're taking a calculated risk while hoping that your math is correct. These are the types of things that I think about when it comes to that little four letter word. So as I ponder this in my head one day, I began to wonder why people even bother to fall in love at all. For that reason, I decided to ask this question to a few of the people that I know -

"Love is such a crazy thing. It can be beautiful but it can also end up horribly. So why love? Is there a point? Should everyone be open to being in love or should there be a proceed-with-caution sign up?"

How did they respond? Here's some of their answers...

Everyone is different and has gone through their own experience with love. To this day, I ask myself the same question but I "proceed-with-caution" to avoid that horrible ending. No one wants that but people ultimately seek that beautiful/blissful side of it. You kind of have to be open about being in love but be cautious at the same time.

Samantha P. said:

Proceed with caution when getting to know the person, but don't proceed with caution when it comes to love. Most of the time people are rushing into love like it is a game, so they never really know the person before they fall in love (then again that isn't real love). I say Proceed with caution on who you let get close but if you trust them enough to let them get close to you, then you should love freely. Life is made up of a series of experiences and your life is shaped how it is shaped because of them. I think you have to love the wrong person and go through the bad in order to appreciate when you receive the good.

Love is wreckless whether you proceed with caution or not. True love has the power to make you the happiest man on earth or the saddest man who ever lived. Love knows kindness and it knows weakness. You can never show your weakness to it, and if you do they it'll no longer be kind. Love knows how to take advantage- It's selfish in the sense that it only wants the best of you and if you can't give it just that then it doesn't want anything to do with you. The truer the love, the more it will hurt if the two people split. To "proceed with caution" is just taking a baby step towards the fire but it doesn't matter if you take a baby step, or a full stride, in the end. If its TRUE LOVE then it will set your mind, body and soul on fire when it all ends.

It's hard to say. I would say "proceed with caution" because who wants to have a broken heart, but love is true when it's wholehearted so my answer is yes, "proceed with caution" but you can't be too cautious for too long.

I feel that love is a wonderful thing. Whether you love your friends or are in love, I think that everyone should be open to receiving it. It's inevitable for some to be skeptical about it, especially if they've been hurt before, but I feel that love is always worth the risk. One thing I will say, is to fall in love with God first and then fall in love with yourself. After that loving others and deciding who you allow in your life on that type of level is the easy part. I'm all for love.

What's my opinion you ask? That's simple. Lord Alfred Tennyson said it best when he said "'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."

What's your opinion? We would love to hear it!

eyeRock: Ransom x Adidas Kicks

As we kick into the next season of fashionm, Fall/Winter, ADIDAS X RANSOM VALLEY have teamed up to create some new kicks. These forthcoming Valley boots combine rugged good looks, cozily familiar colourways and a sophisticated palette of materials for another winter winner. A basic silhouette, from the ribbed collar to the vulcanized sole, it's a tough shoe to dislike, and in the right colours, like the navy suede with orange detailing, it's better than pretty much any other simple shape out there. Winter meant the bolder shades went into hibernation, while ripstop nylon versions of the new lower variation stole the high Valley's shine.

Keeping the finish matt, suede and canvas makes up this quartet, and the Deepest Green/Oak and Cardinal/Light Maroon variation, with a slightly washed-out look and leather collars and linings are the star here.
Keep your eyes peeled for new additions like the Strata and Crest, that run the roughneck spectrum from clean elegance to 40 Below design cues, capturing the full scope of Ransom and adidas's vision. This footwear is smartly executed, and all four makeups are set to arrive next month at the Crooked Tongues store.
