effFIVE Home Part-time Jobs

Are you someone who is looking to make some extra cash, or just need a job in general? Trust me, I know the feeling, but there is something you can do about it. In today's world, if you're not in tune with the media world and social networking, you're ten steps behind in the game. So why not put your fingers to use and make some money instead of lallygagging online all day reading gossip sites? Time to start getting paid for it! Job-seekers are looking for some internet savvy people to bring to their business. Here are five part-time jobs that you can do from home:

1. Social Media Expert
From car dealers to local boutiques, nearly every business is looking for a social media expert to Facebook, Twitter and blog about their business. If you want to be proactive, brush up on your social media knowledge and confront local businesses about hiring you. With more and more businesses pulling away from traditional advertising and unsure how to use social media sites to their advantage, you can easily sell yourself as a new hire, as long as you stay on top of your game.
Who's Hiring: Social Media Experts

2. Editor
Many professionals or even job seekers are constantly looking for another set of eyes to edit their new business proposal, cover letter, or transcript. Editing jobs pop up all over job boards and can turn into a steady part-time job if you continue to network.
Who's Hiring: Editors

3. Bookkeeper
With easy-to-use bookkeeping software available, more and more businesses are able to hire part-time bookkeepers who work from home. If you're organized and comfortable with numbers, bookkeeping for a local business can turn into a great part-time job for someone on the prowl for a flexible work schedule.
Who's Hiring: Bookkeepers

4. Data Entry
Rough financial times means that administrative assistant positions are often cut, even though there is work that still needs to be done, such as data entry. Working part-time doing data entry for a company means you'll always have a steady stream of work coming your way, and it's a great foot in the door.
Who's Hiring: Data Entry Workers

5. Call Center Jobs
Companies hire part-time workers to run their call centers from home. Running a virtual call center from your home could mean anything from telemarketing to customer service hotlines. Although little experience is required, some companies do look for employees who are bilingual.
Who's Hiring: Call Center Workers

eyeInspire: Be effFull of Joy

(9) I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. (10) When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. (11) I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” - John 15:9–11, NLT

Is your joy full today? When something is full, there really isn’t room for any more. It’s a feeling of complete satisfaction. God wants your joy to be full! But too many people drag through the day with a sour outlook, no enthusiasm. No smiling, no laughing, everything just seems like a burden. But God never created us to endure life, He created us to enjoy life. We’re not supposed to go around with a long face, or negative, discouraged, sour, and grumpy faces. As believers, you and I are supposed to be the happiest people on earth. Everywhere we go we should be so full of joy that we brighten other people’s day. Here’s the key: we have to choose love by choosing to obey the commands of Almighty God. That’s how our joy is full and complete.

If there’s an area of your life that you know you need to make some adjustments to in order to be in obedience to His Word, do it today. Don’t waste another moment disconnected from the Father. Instead, choose to obey and choose love, that your joy may be full!

The effFALL of Calvin Klein

CK Fall 2010

We know the summer isn't here yet, but in the fashion world, you always have to be a season or two ahead. Calvin Klein is giving us a preview of what to expect from his Fall 2010 line, and if you know CK, you know there will be lots of denim. I love that CK keeps it simple, yet knows exactly what people want. Everyone wears denim, and this specific CK line focuses on slim silhouettes that are clean, fitted and classic. The direction of this classic label was revamped by Kevin Carrigan.

effFREDDY's Back

Wes Craven's horror film classic returns to theatres today...A Nightmare on Elm Street. As a child I seemed to enjoy EVERY single one of these movies; while my cousin was scared out of her mind, but as I grew older, I started to have the Freddy Krueger dreams.
Don't think I'm crazy, but I really had dreams that I would get sliced and everything lol. Luckily, I'm alive just to let you know that you don't have to worry about Freddy - because he is not real. I watched the preview and after seeing who Freddy is (Jackie Earle Haley), I'm not too scared. I think that the original Freddy (Robert Englund, who played Freddy from 1984 Nightmare on Elm Street - 2004 Freddy vs. Jason) was much scarier. Take a look at the trailer, happy watching!

The movie was directed by Samuel Bayer. Will you be seeing Freddy in theatres?

eyePoll: Nicknames

The results are in! We asked our readers, "Do you mind being given a nickname by someone you've only known for a short period of time?" and as you can see above, and 55% of you are cool with it. I am personally a part of the 45% who prefers to be called by my full name, unless we're cool like that.

Tiff, Tiffy, T, T.I., Tiffy-Wiffy, - some of the nicknames (relating to my real name) that I have been called within my lifetime. Do I mind it, yes and no. If I know you, I'm fine with nicknames, but when I just meet a person and introduce myself by my full name, I do that for a reason. Some people just get too comfortable in calling me Tiff too soon. It's not a big deal, but it bothers me.

Where did you place your vote? What do you think about the topic?

eyeInspire: Enjoy the Journey

"The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day." - Proverbs 4:18, NLT

Sometimes it’s easy to become so goal-oriented and so focused on our dreams, that we overlook the simple things that we should be enjoying in our everyday lives. What we must realize is life isn't about the final destination, it's about the journey to get there.

In this life, there is no such thing as a finish line. Once you accomplish one dream, God will give you another. When you overcome one challenge, there will be another. There is always another mountain to climb.
If we make the mistake of just living for the destination, we’ll look up one day and realize we’ve missed out on the biggest part of life because most of life is routine. Most of us get up every morning, go to work, come home, eat dinner, go to bed and do it again. There are very few mountaintops where you graduate from school, or you get married, or have a child, or go on vacation. The high times are few and far between. Don’t get stuck living for the mountaintops. Learn to enjoy the path you’re on. Learn to enjoy the people in your life. Learn to enjoy the simple blessings of walking in the path the Lord has prepared for you.

Miley Cyrus said it like this, "It ain't about how fast you get there, it ain't about what's waiting on the other side...it's the climb." Enjoy it!

JuNK FOOD: Baby Bullock

After seeing all of the failed marriages and infidelity scandals going on in the media, the conclusion is fairy tales don't have a happy ending. Or do they? Sandra Bullock has been through a lot of ups and downs in the past couple of months; awards here and there including an Oscar, a file for divorce, and the adoption of a baby boy, Louis Bardo Bullock that she's had since January. Yes, how did that happen to get past the paps?

I'm personally happy for Sandy (who is my BFF - in my head), I love that she's moving forward in her life and out of all of the mess going on with her cheating, soon-to-be ex-husband, she has found a source of happiness in her 3 1/2 month-old baby boy. She adopted Louis from New Orleans and named him after Louis Armstrong. He's a real cutie and I'm sure he'll grow up to be a fine man under her wing.

Congratulations Sandra!

Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML), and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL).

The terms lymphocytic or lymphoblastic indicate that the cancerous change takes place in a type of marrow cell that forms lymphocytes. The terms myelogenous or myeloid indicate that the cell change takes place in a type of marrow cell that normally goes on to form red cells, some types of white cells, and platelets.

Our philanthropy is the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society. What can we do to help? Make a donation to help find a cure, organize a walk in your area, volunteer, spread awareness. We'll keep you up-to-date with the event we plan to hold.

eyeAsk: Can Friends Be Business Partners?

YES and NO

Some may find that working with a friend is the coolest thing in the world. And although that may be true, sometimes the business and personal issues get intertwined. And what are you to do when this happens? Stop, drop and roll! No, but seriously, you have to stop and think about why you are working and from that point on leave the personal outside of the workplace.

On the other hand, working with a familiar face may be easier than working with a stranger. If your friendship is solid enough for you to understand that you will have problems at work, but you have a common understanding of who's the boss and who's in charge of what, that's great. Being friends might even make your working relationship that much better because you understand one another.

What do you think...can friends be successful business partners?

The Sound of Jewelry

Behind every great piece of art, there lies an artist who translates their creative thoughts into wonderful images. The same goes for anyone who has a particular craft; including musicians, athletes, and fashion designers. Iran Ortiz, creator of the brand and the jewelry line, Endless Noise NYC, is no different! Her work speaks for itself, and with every piece handmade, we're sure that soon enough her work will be seen in stores and on our favorite celebrities. Check out the interview:

elleELLEeye: How did you come up with the name Endless Noise NYC?
Iran Ortiz: In addition to jewelry I was also making these clutches made out of fabric. The name Endless Noise represents the sounds that are constantly around me when creating something; The sound of the sewing machine, music, radio, my family, my dog barking, the cars outside and etc.

elleELLEeye: What inspired you to start your company?
Iran Ortiz: About 4 years ago, I would make jewelry pieces or clutches for my friends as birthday and holiday gifts. They would always tell me to start selling my pieces. I have always had a 9-5 job, therefore was not able, with my time to begin a business. Fortunately, a year and a half ago, I was laid off and was able to work on starting the line.

elleELLEeye: What designers inspire you?
Iran Ortiz: One designer that does inspire me is Kerin Rose. I heard her story through a friend of mine and soon after was following her on Twitter. She inspires me because she goes the extra mile in everything that she does. Not only are her products beautiful but they are also of high quality. Kerin Rose is a true hustler.

elleELLEeye: If you could collaborate, and do a line, with any designer who would it be and why?
Iran Ortiz: Hmmm...there are so many designers I admire and would love to work with one day. If I could collaborate with any designer, I would choose Rebecca Minkoff because I love her whole concept. She has bags that are perfect for every occasion. You can really fit a pair of flats, and all your morning essentials for a “long” night out in the “Morning After Bag”. The Mac Clutch is perfect for a girl like me who takes the subway into the city and needs to bring a book to read, but at the same time doesn’t want to bring a huge bag to the club. It would definitely be hot to collaborate with her.

elleELLEeye: We know that every girl should have that "little black dress" to wear on all occasions; what piece of jewelry should every girl have?
Iran Ortiz: Every girl should have the Espressione Necklace from Endless Noise because not only can you wear it with a fabulous dress, but you can also wear it with a t-shirt, jeans and heels and look like a million bucks!

elleELLEeye: If you could design jewelry for any celebrity, who would it be? Why?
Iran Ortiz: Hmmmm...this is a hard one because I would love to have all celebrities wearing my jewelry. I would have to say Lady Gaga or Rihanna. They’re style is ridiculous and once they wear something it just starts flying off the shelves.

elleELLEeye: What is your favorite piece that you have designed thus far?
Iran Ortiz: My favorite piece is the Swarovski Duo Necklace set because it’s the piece that I enjoy making the most. Each stone is placed by hand. The concept is also great because it signifies friendship. It’s what I would like to call, “the grown up version of the grade school friendship necklaces.” I love how it looks on the people who wear it. It’s definitely a conversation starter, “Who has the other piece,” and it’s also available in a variety of colors.

elleELLEeye: Do you plan to design more men's jewelry?
Iran Ortiz: Yes, I do plan on designing more men’s jewelry. It’s actually in the works. Endless Noise Jewelry is a man magnet. I am speaking for myself and for others. They always have something to say to the women wearing Endless Noise. That was where the idea to make men pieces came from. I was wearing a piece and a dude asked me if he could try it on and Waaaah Laaaaaah!

elleELLEeye: Are your pieces "Recessionista" friendly?
Iran Ortiz: I do attempt to make my pieces recessionista friendly. One of my popular pieces, which is the Espressione Bracelet is $28.00. I try to make my pieces as cheap as possible. The Swarovski pieces are a bit expensive for someone affected by the recession. Totally understandable. I try to offer as many surprise sales as I can. For example, right now the Swarovski pieces are 50% off for a limited time only. Get yours today!

elleELLEeye: Have you faced any challenges while designing?
Iran Ortiz: There are always challenges, which is what makes this business interesting. One of my biggest challenges is trying to stay away from what other people are doing. The truth is that when you are being trendy you are most likely to come up with an idea that someone else is coming up with at the same time.

elleELLEeye: What separates Endless Noise NYC jewelry from the rest?
Iran Ortiz: It has a personal touch. I work on every piece myself so it feels like every piece has it’s own personality. Two different girls can have the same piece but it lives differently with each person.

elleELLEeye: What advice would you offer to aspiring fashion entrepreneurs?
Iran Ortiz: "Just do it" like Nike :o )

eyeAsk: Do You Apologize?

Do you apologize?
After a fight, serious or petty, one of the hardest things for a human being to do is to suck up their ego and say sorry. But why is this? Some people feel like it makes them seem weaker and others just don't feel as though they owe anyone an apology. At the end of the day, it comes down to perception and personal reflection. But here's something to remember:

"Apologizing: does not always mean that you are wrong and that the other person is right. It just means that you value your relationship more than your ego."
