Forgiveness

F O R G I V E N E S S

"There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love. - Bryant H. McGill

The Three Essentials of Forgiveness

1. Forgive Yourself First:

In order to succeed in your path to forgiveness you must first forgive yourself. How can you expect to forgive someone else when you can’t even forgive your own faults and shortcomings? So often we forget this essential first step.

Sometimes we have issues within ourselves that keep us guarded and stubborn from realizing the truth. We expose others to cover our own insecurities. Once you learn to forgive yourself, forgiving others will become easier.

2. Accept Your Past:

Depending on how much hurt you have suffered in a particular relationship, this can and most likely will, take some time. But with the right attitude, anything is possible.

Look you can’t change what has happened to you, you and I both know that, but what you can change is how you look at your past events. I’m not suggesting that you have to recall hurtful periods of time and smile about them, but rather simply acknowledge that they have occurred and move on.
Soon you will realize that if your relationship is to ever exist in a peaceful state, you first have to accept our past.

3. Choose The Path Of Happiness:

If you choose to forgot the path of forgiveness you are essentially choosing a path of misery. Forgiving can be challenging, but forgiveness is essential in living life to your fullest potential. One of the greatest reasons we are miserable is because we subconsciously believe that suffering is necessary. We amplify the hurt long after the initial act has taken place.

What we fail to realize though, is that suffering is not normal, we choose to suffer. The sad thing is we are naturally made to be happy, but our social conditioning tends to make us believe other wise. We don’t need the latest product to make us happy, the only thing we need to live a happy life is a happy mind, a mind that can love and forgive.

Who is it that you need to forgive? What are you waiting for?

Pretty effFLY FOR A _____ GUY: Lou Dalton Autumn

This week's Pretty effFLY FOR A _____ GUY comes from Mensware designer Lou Dalton Autumn. His A/W 09 Collection is a bit different from what you are probably used to seeing in mensware, but I like it!

What's nice about these brooches from Lou Dalton's Autumn(Fall)/Winter 2009/2010 collection is that they're a clever re-interpretation of the classic elements: there's the greenery, there's the thistle but these aren't simply reproductions of historical brooches. True to its British influence, the collection these brooches are a part of is called "Deer Keeper" and was inspired by Lord Byron (Source).

Manicure 101

For some acrylic nails are it! But for the rest of us getting your fresh full set and a fill-in is an investment. That's $25 for a full set and $15 for a fill-in; which can be around $40 a month considering you don't break a nail, you don't want any extra designs, a french manicure or extra strokes of color on your nails and you only get your nails done twice a month.

Why go through the time, inhale the toxic chemicals and spend extra money on something that's just damaging your nails anyway when you can get a manicure for 1/3 of the price and/or do it yourself? Exactly, it's not worth it, so here are some tips to a quick and easy manicure (guys you can get manicures too, it won't make you any less of a man, just stick to clear polish or buffed nails):

1. Remove old nail polish thoroughly.
2. Soak hands in warm water for 10 or 15 minutes. Dry hands.
3. File nails in one direction only. Avoid using a seesaw motion.
4. Push back cuticles. Use a cuticle moisturizer if they do not push back easily after soaking.
5. Massage your hands. Use a moisturizing lotion. Use an exfoliating lotion if your skin is dry and/or roughened.

6. Apply a base coat. Allow it to dry.
7. Apply polish. Clean any stray marks with a cotton swab dipped in polish remover.
8. Add a second coat for deeper color.
9. Finish the manicure with a top coat of clear polish.

Keep it natural and beautiful!

eyePod: Acapella

After a marriage, divorce and baby with one of Hip-Hop's heavy hitters, I'm glad to see that Kelis is back to making music. Yesterday (Nov. 23rd) Kelis informed her fans that her new song is called “Acapella” and
I wrote it with love and life in mind. I hope that it finds you well and that you love it, cause honestly I do! Muah!"
"Acapella" Kelis' first single since her album Kelis Was Here; which I loved! Take a listen to what she's working with for her upcoming as-of-yet-untitled Will.I.Am/Interscope Records debut.

Referring to the forthcoming album and record deal, Kelis told fans via Twitter
"My album is pretty much done. I signed a new deal and I’m madly in love with life and ready to share something with you."

Creme de la Trompe

Who needs darts, buttons, boning or top-sticting? Most designers do, but that's not the case with Trompe L'oeil. This collection has been seen in the A/W 2009-10 catwalks of Comme des Garcons, Stella McCartney and Viktor & Rolf.

The collection, designed by London College of Fashion undergraduate Rosalind Keep, features oversized T-shirts and racerback vests with dresses jackets and coats drawn on top of the garment, literally "tricking the eye".

Following the release of the Trompe L'Oeil collection, Book of Charms - by textile designer Vanessa Harrington, will launch in January.
Paper Dolls follows in February, designed by a trio of designers from different universities: Jenny Neill from Edinburgh College of Art; Claire McInally from Heriot Watt School of Textiles and Design; and Anna O'Neill from West Wales School of the Arts.

The collection, designed to support emerging talent from British universities, launches on Monday in Oasis stores nationwide.

ToP THIS: Social Etiquette 101

No elbows on the table! Which fork do I use? Don't slouch!Turn off you're phone! How should I wear my hair? What time should I arrive? How do I remember every one's name?!

There are so many rules when it comes to how to act in a social atmosphere. Here are a few that you can use whether

you're in a business setting or at a relaxed social event.

For starters
When you sit at the table at a formal restaurant or banquet, the bread plate is always to the left of your place setting and the glass stays to the top right corner. Place your napkin neatly folded into your lap. When you use your glass or silverware, place it in the original place setting. This keeps the setting nice and tidy. Begin from the outside of your silverware setting and work inwards as the appetizers, soups, salads and so forth arrive. Take smaller bites than you normally would. It is important to either eat or drink at one time, but never do both at once. This keeps you from having a full mouth when a question or statement is directed to you. Always chew with your mouth closed, and please do not talk or laugh through your food. Try not to fidget at the table.

Names
Committing to remember the names of the people at an event is a great attitude to have as you enter an event.
Repetition helps engrave the name in your memory.
-Use the name immediately.
-Repeat it silently to yourself.
-Comment on the name, if possible.
-Use it occasionally in the conversation without overdoing it.
-Use it when leaving.
-Write it down afterwards.

Also associating the name with something else will help commit the name to memory
IE:Dave needs a shave.
Latrice is Patty's niece.
Still need help remembering names?

The Staff
Always be polite to the staff and servers, and especially use ‘Please’ and ‘Thank You’ often for proper social etiquette. Again, this is a relatively easy one. The problem is that people at a dinner setting often forget to acknowledge the servers. Ignoring the servers is not in good manners at all. It shows a certain amount of friendliness and social graces when you look directly at the servers, smile, and thank them for their service.

Letters and thank you notes
If you do not know the sex of the person you are writing do not use Ms., or Mr. Instead, use the full name: Dear Toni Smith. If you do know the gender, remember that woman are always referred to as Ms. It is very important to write a follow up or thank you letter to the host/hostess and in some cases the people you are introduced to, within 48 hours of meeting them. This should be a simple formal note.

Final Quick tips
-Do not fix your hair at the table, if it needs to be fixed, excuse yourself and go to the restroom
- Focus on the host/hostess and not the food.

DJ Hero

Fikee Fikee "Hi my name is...H to the Izzo V to the izz A." You may call that gibberish, but I call it watching too much television. If you haven't seen the commercial for one of the newest game systems, you must not know about DJ Hero. What's that you ask? It's none other than the DJ version of the infamous game Guitar Hero, but in my opinion it's so much cooler!

If I could get my hands on a bag big enough, this would definitely throw in it! DJ Hero would also be a great Christmas gift ::AHEM:: for a loved one. It'll set you back $100 - $200 depending on your gaming system. Check out the commercial, happy watching/shopping!

Coke Can

The Unibody Coca-Cola Can

It doesn't only look beautiful, and it would make Jon Ive and Steve Jobs wet, but this naked Coca-Cola can would help save energy while reducing air and water pollution. Would it really make a difference?

The naked can help to reduce air and water pollution occurred in its coloring process. It also reduces energy and effort to separate toxic color paint from aluminum in recycling process. Huge amount of energy and paint required to manufacture colored cans will be saved. Instead of toxic paint, manufacturers process aluminum with a pressing machine that indicates brand identity on surface.

Alicia Keys' video "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart" was directed by Syndrome and is pretty deep. Although some may not be a fan of the 80s sound on the track, I love the song; which was produced by Jeff Bhasker & Plain Pat.

CTRL

CTRL’s S/S 2010 Collection

The lookbook is incredibly large [at around 112 pages, no joke] but the colors, styling, photography, and models keep you hungrily flipping right through to the very end. Abundant are subtle acid wash denims in coral and black, as well as cropped and non-cropped jeans in plain black or white for both women and men.

CTRL never fails to come up with clever comical prints for their pieces that can sometimes be a bit of a riddle [see: 'MISSING U' tank and sweater dress and 'MOTHERS LITTLE HELPER' baseball tee]. There is an obvious inspiration from the sea what with all the anchors anchoring themselves upon the fronts of hoodies, shirts, and dresses.

eyeLove this shirt! "Missing "U""

Freeman told XLR8R Magazine that “Love and happiness. So be it.” will be big in 2009 so with all the hearts floating around this collection, it seems love will be big yet again in 2010. Here’s an exclusive look at a few of the get-ups Freeman put together for the sun that will follow the snow come 2010.

CTRL is, ironically, so in control that their pieces are actually out of control on the cool scale. This is a brand with much versatility; it can go from playful prints to preppy prince in just the turn of a page. There may be a plain black sweater and a classic button-up then out of nowhere pretty particolor leggings and some drop-crotch pants with vibrant geometric tesselations scattered about. Denim overalls for the girls have been brought back in this line too, bringing one back to the 90’s but this time with a more femininely mature cut and silhouette plus a front zip detail. For this season they’ve also come out with panties, underwear, a poncho, and some sure-to-be highly coveted shades.
