Some may find that working with a friend is the coolest thing in the world. And although that may be true, sometimes the business and personal issues get intertwined. And what are you to do when this happens? Stop, drop and roll! No, but seriously, you have to stop and think about why you are working and from that point on leave the personal outside of the workplace. 
On the other hand, working with a familiar face may be easier than working with a stranger. If your friendship is solid enough for you to understand that you will have problems at work, but you have a common understanding of who's the boss and who's in charge of what, that's great. I think its possible, but eventually someones feelings will get hurt, just like working with ur bf/gf/husband/wife. Good question
