Married vs. Marriage

In today's world there isn't much pressure to be in relationship, but once you are in a committed one, there's loads of pressure to settle down and get married. I think that love is a beautiful thing, but since there is such an emphasis to get married, I think people lose site on making the actual marriage work.

So eyeAsk...
Do you think there is a difference between getting married and having a marriage? I'm not married or even close to it, but I just thought it was an interesting topic.

I'm looking for more than a yes/no answer so make sure you COMMENT!

yup everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die.. its more than just a ring and thinking happy thoughts.. its a commitment to another human being. Not to the marriage. Not to the children. Not to the house or the life. I don't think alot of people understand that :/

I agree too a lot of people think marriage is just a game and getting a divorce is a way out of it, but its so much more than that. People dont realize that it's a Holy Matrimony and that you are making vows to God and to one another.

I like both your your answers. I think there is definitely a stress to get married in todays society and although the marriage may fail due to the people in the relationship, i think that society plays a large part in that.

One thing that I think happens is that some pastors dont like to see people pregnant and not in relationships, so they stress that couples get married before the baby is born as if a sin wasnt already committed.

I think that people have to work on marriage and realize that being married is just the 1st of many steps. There's nothing wrong with a long engagement or a marriage as long as youre willing to make it work!
