Trend Check: Fall Essentials

The summer's coming to a close, and for me that is more than enough to put a smile on my face. I love Autumn...the temperature, the colors, and the fashion. Doesn't everything seem easy, breezy and laid back in the fall? That's because it is! You don't have to worry about being too hot or too cold and everything always seems just right. But don't step out this Fall season without your fashion essentials! Yes, the color scheme for the fall usually remains the same every year; the burgundy, beige, forest green, teal and golds. Yet and still, there are some fashion items that we all should have in our closets and if not, make it a priority to purchase them.

The Blazer/Cardigan - The "Cardi" has been a hit in the fashion world for the past couple of years. With the "boyfriend" fit for the ladies, to the different lengths and styles, it can be the perfect touch to a lackluster outfit. A blazer has the same effect, and will add a chic and stylish touch to almost any outfit. Same rule applies for the men, keep it simple & add that cardigan or blazer for the dapper touch! (Embellished pocket cardigan from jcrew.com)

The Dark Rinse Denim - No matter who you are, you must have a pair of basic jeans.
With the fall you can wear the lighter washes while it's still nice out, but make sure you have a dark rinse pair of denim jeans. Darker denims/jeggings add a richness to your outfit. (J. Crew Relaxed fit jeans $96, Skinny dark rinse - Old Navy $34.50)

The Boots - Whether they're canvas, leather, cowboy, or moto boots, you can't go wrong! Unless of course, you try to do too much with your outfit. Boots are a necessity for the all. Your color choice should be brown, black, or tan. These colors are neutral and will nicely compliment the rest of your wardrobe. (Men's canvas boots: Topshop.com $80, Wmns boots: Coach.com $348)

The Button Up - A classic shirt that can be dressed for a casual day - or a day at work. The button up comes in so many different textures, colors, length and detailing, that it's almost impossible for one not to find the right fit for themselves. Plaids, floral, stripes and solids are a thumbs up for the fall! (NY & Co Boyfriend Denim shirt $39.95, Flannel J. Crew Shirt)

The Coat (or jacket) - Named "The Ultimate Investment Piece" by TopShop.com, a coat/jacket for the fall is definitely worth the money and time it takes to find the right color, style and fit! Here's where you can have fun before you have to throw on the bulky winter coat. When purchasing a fall coat, look for something that you can dress up and dress down. Also, leave a little room for layering - especially since you're investing in a coat that may cost more than the other items in your wardrobe, you want to have the option to wear it in the years to come.

The best thing about these items is that they're simple, and can be mix-and-matched with a number of different items. One of the plus sides to the fall is that you can certainly layer your outfits. Where to shop? Top Shop, Old Navy, Gap, Macys, H&M, or even bargain stores such as Target or Sears. Remember to have fun with fall fashion, and don't hesitate to take some of your summer items and transition them to this season. For instance, take a look at Perla's Perfect Transition Shoes post. Happy shopping!
