All EyEz on CLEF

Award-winning rapper Wyclef Jean has officially announced that he is running to be the President of Haiti.

It is no surprise that he's making this drastic political move; especially since the acclaimed artist has always shown love for his country.

When the earthquake rocked the island back in January 2010, Wyclef’s organization, the Yele Haiti Foundation, sent money and supplies to help the devastated population.

Wyclef has served as an ambassador since 2007, and meets all residency requirements to be considered for candidacy. He moved to New York as a young child, and later became member of the hip-hop group, The Fugees. He then went on to have a successful solo career as an artist and producer.

In preparation for the presidential election scheduled for November 28th, he will strongly address his hopes to serve as a neutral ally, and rebuild the city from the earthquake’s aftermath, improve education, security, jobs, and healthcare.

Love for your country can’t run deeper than that.

Do you feel the same?

But not everyone, even some close to him feel the same. At present, former bandmate Pras is endorsing someone else- "I endorse Michel Martell as the next president of Haiti because he is the most competent candidate for the job. " Thats striking, you would think someone as close to you as they are/were would give a resounding support call.

In addition it has been said by many, and I myself have said that it takes a lot more than sheer love to run a country. I have always applauded his ambassadorship; for one should never forget where they come from and take every opportunity to uplift those in the same circumstances that have been overcome. But there's that line of competency that should not be crossed. If it dont fit you must acquit..RIP J. Cochran.

Beyond anything, Haiti deserves to be and will be in a better situation when its all said and done. Hopefully even if Wyclef doesn't win, he will continue his hard work for his people.
