eyePoll: Truth Hurts

No matter who we are, what our age or how honest we think we've been throughout our lifetime, we all have told a lie. Whether the question was "Honey, do I look fat?" or "Have you ever cheated on me?", we have held back the truth from someone, often thinking that it would protect their feelings. That lie may have seemed like the right thing to say at the time, but was it worth it in the long run?

In any case, we've all played the other side of the fence as well, the person who that "little white lie" was told to. When it came to the issue of being "protected by a lie" versus being "hurt by the truth", 72% of you would rather be hurt by the truth. I was surprised that the vote wasn't split a bit more even, but I guess our readers prefer the truth. Some people would like to be protected by a lie to cover their insecurities or to be naive to a situation. Where did you stand on the issue and if you didn't vote what do you think?

When I think of being filled, I think of being satisfied. I think of having more than enough to meet my needs so that I can be a blessing to others. But it all starts with our level of expectancy. My question for you today is what are you believing for? What are you expecting? You might say, “Well, I don’t think I’ll ever meet my sales goals this year with the economy like it is.” Or, “I don’t think I’ll ever get promoted. I’m not that qualified.” “I don’t think I’ll ever get well.” The problem is you’re not looking for those good breaks. You’re not expecting increase. You’re not positioning yourself for God to fill you, and unfortunately, you won’t be disappointed.

Jesus said in the scriptures, “According to your faith it will be done unto you.” He might as well have said, “If you’ve got a cup, I’ll fill you with a cup level of blessings. If you’ve got a bucket, I’ll fill you with a bucket level of blessings.” But if you’ll take the limits off of God and believe for supernatural opportunities, if you’ll go out each day expecting far and beyond favor, you won’t be disappointed. He will fill you and satisfy you with His goodness and show His favor in ways beyond your wildest dreams!

One can only wonder what Mr. Kanye West has been up to after his low key status proceeding the infamous Taylor Swift VMA situation. Well wonder no more, because Kanye is dishing out music from his upcoming album Good A** Job.

The single "Power", featuring Dwele, released today and it is all kinds of musical. I'm definitely feeling it and respect the track - on a musical note. I don't totally agree with some of the emo lines, but other than that I appreciate it. That's just my opinion though, have a listen for yourself. Happy Listening!

Alicia Keys: HAUTE or HATE IT

So, here we are again with another HAUTE or HATE IT. This time, let's talk about the beautiful Alicia Keys. (Congrats to her and Swiss on their great baby news by the way!) Anyway, here she is at the Keep a Child Alive Ball in London.

Alicia is wearing a one of a kind Dolce & Gabbana strapless ruffled cocktail dress with crystal detailing. The gown is embellished with tons of petal shaped pieces of fabric, except for the band that is strategically placed to help show off her waist (and hide the baby bump). AK also has on some amazing silver, pointy Christian Louboutin toe red bottom heels. Love the shoes, but not sure about the overall look.

eyeWatch: "Yo Side of the Bed"

It looks like Trigga took a more mature approach on his video for "Yo Side of the Bed"; off of his album Ready. The video features Keri Hilson as his leading lady and just by previewing the video, I knew that I would be in love. I love the storyline and how the roles have been reversed from the typical "guy leaves girl" home to take care of the kids and feeling lonely. The screenplay was written by Tremaine Neverson (Mr. Songz himself) and Bianca Mendez. I won't give too much more away, because I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Happy watching!

ToP THIS: 10 Rules For a New Relationship (In His Words)

I didn't write this, but I thought it was interesting to share a males point of view on his top 10 rules for a new relationship.

The beginning of a relationship can be a tricky course to navigate. Guys (like me) aren't so good at guessing what women think or want, and our stupidity can lead to otherwise easily avoidable arguments. Setting some basic rules with your new flame may help you get past the small stuff and start enjoying your lives together.

Here are ten guidelines to smooth the road with your new beau.

1. P.D.A. regulation. People have different comfort levels when it comes to couples behavior in public. Find the line (holding hands, smooching, heated necking on the subway platform) and don't cross it.

2. One day a week. Decide on one day every week you can spend together, no one else invited. Everyone is busy; designating together-time is healthy for any relationship.

3. No suffocation. Being together is great—acting like conjoined twins is not. Respect each other's space and don't take it so seriously if he asks for some time to himself.

4. Don't talk about the future until it's time to talk about the future. Nothing freaks a guy out like the prospect of kids before he's actually ready to have them. Don't think he doesn't want to be with you if he shies away from the topic. He just enjoys the way things are and isn't quite ready to add a mini-me to the mix.

5. Forget friendships with your partner's pals… Not that you have to be one of the bros, but it's nice for him, and you, if feel comfortable around his buddies.


6. …But don't forget your own. Don't drop the friends who were with you before he showed up. Ditching the gals will lead to feelings of resentment and neglect, and if your relationship comes to an end, you'll want that circle of support.

7. Don't hide things. You don't need to tell him about the time you hooked up with your father's golf buddy, but it's a good idea to tell him you're still friends with your ex before he runs into the two of you on the street.

8. Loosen up. Don't start a fight because he glanced at the attractive girl that just walked by. Likewise, he shouldn't get worked up just because you said Jake Gyllenhaal is hot. It's not like either of you is trying to sleep with them (unless you are, in which case you should reevaluate your role in this twosome)

9. Don't kiss and tell. This is a relationship, not an elongated one-night stand. There's no need to talk about what goes on in the bedroom at the water cooler.

10. No assumptions or guessing games. Don't force him to guess what you really mean by, "It's OK if we don't go out on my birthday." Being upfront with your feelings will prevent many conflicts.

Queen Bee of the ROC

Word on the wave is that Hov has signed rapper Lil' Kim to Roc Nation - mixed emotions. On the one hand, it's Kim and she's a sure draw, even if off of personality alone; so in that case, it does seem like a good idea. I question whether the idea was contemplated thoroughly and before I get into the hoopla, I wanna know will she ever come out with an album. Shame is that in today's time people sign deals, and really become tax write-offs. By that I mean the music never gets put out. You get some shows and some cameos with the label chain, but never anything to hang your hat on. Need we really go through the list of people whom fall in this category? [Sidebar: Always have facts to back up your claim, I have mine.] But as I was saying, is this just a move to stir up the whole Lil' Kim vs. Nicki Minaj scenario before someone could capitalize off of Foxy Brown vs. Nicki? Hmmm...I wonder.

Next issue - Does Kim still have it? I'm not knocking her, but times have changed. With Emmo-rap taking over, the people want substance; not just entertainment. To think, the top 3 rappers at the moment have no showmanship (Ross, Jay-Z and Drake), but what do they have is LYRICS. Need I repeat, LYRICS!. Could this be a chance for Jay-Z to pick up his pen again? Let's not say he created Foxy - I'll argue that. Shout out to Inga.


As you can see, I'm torn on the subject; still and all congrats to Kim and Roc Nation, rock on! Let's just see if this project gets off the ground.

Did you know that you life will move in the direction of your most dominant thoughts? If you’re constantly down on yourself thinking you’ll never get ahead, then you won’t. But if you will choose to believe that you can overcome, that you have victory up ahead, that God has good things in store for your future; then that’s what you will end up with.

This is why it’s so important to make sure our thoughts are the same as God’s thoughts. Just like a computer, whatever you allow into your mind is what will come out in your attitude and actions. The more you meditate on God’s Word, the more you will transform your thinking to be like God’s thinking.

Choose today to focus on the Word of God and allow your mind to be renewed. As you focus on God’s thoughts, you will see your actions become more like Him and you will see His hand of blessing in every area of your life.

Another leaked track off of Drake's upcoming album, Thank Me Later, has been released. "Unforgettable" features Young Jeezy and the angelic sound of Aaliyah. Besides Drake rapping and singing on the hook, the track is very interesting. I love the chord modulation in the chorus and the way the song was put together collectively. Allow me to introduce myself; Where do I begin, I guess with the truth. Truth is, I'm an average guy with beyond average visions and ambitions - centered around my writing and articulation.

My writing is who I am - my perspective. Subjective? Maybe, but with object in my mind. My calling is to be heard, and to hear others. My experience has encompassed the full gamut of life - the ups, the downs and everything in between. With every breath, I try to epitomize the theory or cliche rather - well rounded. Ever wonder what that truly means? I wake up and go to sleep with that thought. The only definition I have come up with is my life.

ToP THiS: Things to do on a effFIRST DATE

Tonight's the big night! Your first date with your possible love interest. There are definitely a few things that you need to know before you invest your time into this extravaganza. How much do you spend, should it be a double date, do you go all out and break the bank? All valid questions, but for a first date, things should be simple and smooth. Here are some things you may want to consider for the big night!

Inexpen$ive Date: Surprisingly enough it's not a good idea to spend a lot of money on the first date. Keep it simple, yet classy. This way you will be able to tell if the other person is really into you or just interested the activity/ambiance. If things go well, you can splurge on a second date.

Movie Blues: Save the movies for people you know. Quietly sitting in a theater for a couple hours is the best way NOT to get to know someone, so don't do it!

Four's Company Too: It's a good idea to double date on your first date for a couple of reasons. One, if you don't like the person you're with, you can still have a good time. The second reason is: having other people with you will eliminate any awkward moments.


Need some first date ideas? Well today is your lucky day:

*Have lunch at a diner
*Go to a museum (An art museum, planetarium, etc.)
*Go to the zoo (It may sound a little weird, but the Bronx Zoo has a lovely light show during the winter; which is actually really nice)
*Wine Tasting (For the 21+ crowd)
*Take a walk through a park or on the beach
*Mini Golf

...one of the greatest rappers, Notorious B.I.G., who would have been 38-years-old today. It's unfortunate to lose anyone, but I'm glad that his legacy continues to live on today. I'm sure if he were still alive, he'd be doing it up and still in the game along with Jay-Z. So Happy Birthday to you Mr. Christopher Wallace and to everyone else born in May (including me)!

eyeInspire: Stay in the Fight

There comes a time in everyone's life where we work so hard for something and it just doesn't go through. Or, we pay our dues and do work that we feel is beneath us and finally an opportunity is thrown our way, but things don't turn out the way we hoped. All of these situations make it easy for someone to look at life and just give up. One thing that I've come to realize lately is this: Don't give up on God, because he won't give up on you. Yea, it's hard believe this when you feel everything is going wrong and that God is just making life hard on us, but He does this because He knows that we can handle it.

It may sound like a cliché, but God will never put more on you than you can bear. Just when you think you've reached your breaking point, He'll send along friends or family to guide you along the way. There were many times in my life where I just felt like "What's the point". But despite my disappointments, I kept my head up and I continued to fight for my dreams. There will ALWAYS be roadblocks, enemies and those haters lurking to take you out of your element. But as long as you're in the ring, let your opponent swing. Sooner or later they'll get tired and that's when you go in for the knockout. Hang in there!

Although Drake was a co-writer on the original "Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready)" track and laid down some vocals, it was only right that he put a verse on the remix! I love this song, but personally I prefer the original over this one. I feel like Drake's verse makes it another song Drake is featured on; opposed to the fresh feeling you get from listening to it without him. W.O.W.: Everybody Hates FISH

Everyone has their favorite show, and although I have a few, for the past several month, Everybody Hates Chris has been one of them. Why? Two reasons: One, the show is funny; and two, I can relate. Sometimes I just feel like everybody hates Tiff. But regardless, today's Wild Out Wednesday clip is coming from one of my favorite episodes entitled "Everybody Hate Corleone."; where Julius finds a new job that pays more than his previous two jobs combined. eyeWatch: "Hello GoodMorning"

Although the video for Diddy & Dirty Money's "Hello Good Morning" featuring Rick Ross and T.I. was released last week, but there's something about it that just make me post it. I love T.I.'s verse & swag in the video. Despite the fact that I think Kaleena and Dawn don't get enough shine, I think The Last Train To Paris will be a hit album. Hopefully we hear more from the two ladies, but since Diddy's in the equation, I don't know how likely that is. The video was directed by Hype Williams and is off the album, The Last Train To Paris, set to hit stores on June 29th.
