eyeInspire: Be a Butterfly

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2 (NIV)

Try this: Think of yourself as a caterpillar. This isn’t the most appealing creature of the world, but focus on the transformation God puts it through. In Stage One, the egg is laid on a leaf. In Stage Two, the egg hatches and becomes a caterpillar. The caterpillar will eat the leaf it was born onto to help it grow. The more they eat, the more they expand and outgrown their outer skin; which occurs more than once.

The Third Stage is the pupa, also known as the chrysalis. Now, as most people know, caterpillars are short, stubby and have no wings at all. Within the chrysalis the old body parts of the caterpillar are undergoing a remarkable transformation, called ‘metamorphosis,’ to become the beautiful parts that make up the butterfly that will emerge. In Stage Four, the adult butterfly emerges.
Usually within a three or four-hour period, the butterfly will master flying.

The bible tells us not to conform to the patterns of the world. A pattern is an action that is repeated, thus becoming predictable. Instead of fitting in with the world, stand out for God and place yourself in his pupa. The world is unstable, and will change up on you without warning. God is the only thing that remains constant. He is what He says He is, and what He says He will do for us, will be done.

Behind everything we do in life, there’s a thought. In order to change, we must renew our way of thinking. Once you renew something, you don’t stop by just renewing it one time. You must renew it again and again, because there is always something that needs to be improved. Once our minds are renewed and we change the way we think, then we will learn what God’s will is for us.

Our willpower is only but so strong to fend off the things of the world. Our willpower will only produce short-term change. Give into God’s pleasing and perfect will. Allow Him to change the way you think, by placing His word in your mind. When we become transformed, God will give us new abilities to compensate our new forms. Don’t conform, be transformed!
