Haute or Hate it: Katy Perry's Nails

Doing your nails used to be about colors, sparkle and shine. Decals and nail art are the traditional way to add a little fun to a fresh manicure. Katy Perry didn't get that memo; as she took it one step further and put pictures of her fiance, Russel Brand on all ten of her fingers (she even has a picture of him in his lingerie!). He wasn't able to attend the MTV VMAs with her, but she brought him along anyway. Personally eye love this, eye'm not sure if eye would do this on all ten fingers, but eye definitely love this style. What do you think?

Favorite VMA Performances

The Video music awards took place this Sunday (Sept. 13th), and although the performances weren't the best this year, there were a few that I wouldn't mind seeing again. The show was quite lackluster until Drake hit the stage and for me that was where the show picked up. Check out my favorite performances and let me know what yours were. If you happened to miss the VMAs and need a recap, you can be sure to check out my commentary post HERE. Happy watching!

Drake - Fancy (ft. Swizz Beatz & Mary J. Blige)

Kanye West - Runaway (ft. Pusha T of The Clipse)

VMA 2010 Commentary

From the pre-show to the big opening act. It's what is talked about every year on the second week of September, the MTV Video Music Awards. Here's ♥ t i f f a n y's dish on what's going down from the White Carpet, to the stage.

Nicki Minaj was the topic most talked about as her haters, "Barbz" & "Kens" anticipated her performance during the VMA pre-show. If you saw it, you may have been just as confused as I was from Nicki's Judy Jetson look, to Will.i.Am's black face - literally. Another woman who is always talked about - Lady Gaga took home two VMAs before the show even started. But of course, what was talked about even more than her winnings was, her outfit. She wore an Alexander McQueen gown from his last collection and looked as normal as she has ever been.

The show opened up with Eminem & Rihanna and what I have to say about that is, the set of the show looked wonderful. Don't get me wrong, I love their music, but the performance wasn't anything to talk about, besides Rihanna's red hair; which we showed you in our last Haute or Hate It post. I'm excited to see how funny Chelsea Handler is...and this picture says it all (Chelsea as Lady Gaga). She was completely hilarious!!!

Kim Kardashian was introduced as a "fashion icon" which made me screw up my face; but she did look pretty. She introduced heartthrob, Justin Beiber. His performance was cool. He brought the young dancers out on stage and had the hair going as usual. He let us see him play the drums; which was excited as seeing someone play the drums. Needless to say, the kid has talent.

Usher performed "OMG", and for me it was a mix between J. Lo's "Waiting for Tonight" video and a B2K performance. There were plenty of LED lights/rays to go around, accompanied by some dancing. Will.i.Am was in the audience and the performance was alright. At this point I am waiting to be impressed...

Here's something to wake you up, Florence + The Machines! Although some were confused about who she was and why she was performing, I enjoyed it. She delivered the most interesting/best performance thus far. Amber Riley & the cast of "Glee" announced the Best Pop Video award. Amber looked fabulous! Lady Gaga took another award in her heavy gown that she couldn't even walk in, but she looked fab!

And kudos to Taylor Swift for making headlines again with her "diss record" performance to Kanye West. Too bad the performance was bad on the vocal end. But she looked nice and the visuals were on point.

Drake's performance with Mary J. Blige and Swizz Beatz is just what I needed! He looked sexy, yes, I'm talking about Drake LOL. His set was on point and he woke me up from the dreadful award show I've been watching for the past 90 minutes. Best performance goes to Drake thus far!

Columbian actress, Sofia Vergara announced the award for "Best Hip-Hop" video, in which Eminem took home. I'm not too sure if anyone understood what she was saying lol, but Eminem and Lady Gaga are racking up!

B.o.B., Bruno Mars, and Haley Williams ft. Paramore hit the stage next. Bruno sounded great (as usual), Haley looked dope, and Bobby Ray's energy was on point. A great performance! Paramore performed "Only Exception" and it was beautiful -definitely in my list of top performances! Singer, Robyn, had her 30 second spotlight (as did Travie McCoy & Jason Deluro) and I truly wished she would've gotten to do a full performance, she's so cool!

Justin Beiber won the award for Best New Artist. It just wasn't a winning night for Young Money! Welcome to MTV!

Linkin Park performed, but I wasn't feeling it too much. The lyrics were sang too harsh, and it didn't feel like the LP I knew from a few years back. They did their performance LA's Griffith Observatory.

And for the time almost everyone has been waiting for...Video of the Year (introduced by Cher - who had Lady Gaga in tears); went to...Lady Gaga for "Bad Romance". She definitely was the winner of the night!

And the 2nd most anticipated moment of the night, Kanye West's performance! K. West set off his performance with a white column, a beat machine, a mic, and a red suit (and red sneakers to match). Next he brought out the Clipse, ballerina dancers, and an autotune microphone. "Let's have a toast for the assh***s, have a toast for the jerkoffs, let's have a toast for the scumbags. Baby I got a plan, runaway as fast as you can." He left the audience chanting his name.

Overall, I'll rate the 2010 VMAs a 6.5/10. What did you think of the show? Who was your favorite performer? COMMENT!!!

Stop the Track!

Isn't it almost sad how bad some celebrities feel the need to pull publicity stunt?! I don't know if it was her interntion, but this Lil' Mama incidents seems like it's being examed more than the O.J. Simpson case. Here's another video of the incident at the VMAs (which I must admit is interesting) of Beyoncé trying to hold Lil' Mama back from joining the stage.

I knew that Beyoncé looked puzzled when I was watching the VMAs. SMH this Lil' Mama is a pure wing for this! What do you think?

eyeLike: 2009 VMA Most Talked About Moments

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was definitely a night to remember. If you want to read my commentary/recap you can do so here. Since this night had so many action-packed moments, I thought that I would share them. From Janet Jackson's tribute to her brother Michael Jackson to Lil Mama crashing Jay-Z's performance (which I am convinced was a publicity stunt on her part, unless Jay-Z says otherwise), this year was one to remember. Here are some videos of those moments:

Janet's tribute to Michael I loved this! Almost brought tears to my eyes.

Lady Gaga - Paparazzi This lady is crazy!

Beyonce - Single Ladies She did it again! She killed it!!!!!!

Beyoncé Wins "Video of the Year" Award and shares the moment with Taylor Swift

Jay-Z performs "Empire State of Mind" with Alicia Keys. Great performance! Lil' Mama, why were you there?

VMA Commentary

So the VMA's are here once again and taking over NYC's Radio City Hall. The show opened up with a great tribute to Michael Jackson. First was a great speech by Madonna followed by a performance from his sister Janet Jackson who dominated the stage to their duet "Scream".

The next thing I know EVERYONE is talking about is the "Best Female Video" award winner, Taylor Swift. Not her in particular, but this is what happened:

Crazy right...yea so let's move on.

Lady Gaga performed paparazzi and to tell you the truth I was confused by the performance. Was she supposed to be in the psychiatric ward or something? Where did the blood come from? I was just in a state of shock. BEYONCE MURDERED THE STAGE. LIKE SERIOUSLY JUST WRAP UP THE SHOW...OK MAYBE IM OD'ING BUT OH WELL! Of course the haters will have something to say, but really it’s just because Beyoncé is the sh*t and ya’ll cannot fathom that.

Next, Wale and his house band were alright. I felt like people weren’t really paying attention to him. I really like Pink’s acrobatic performance and her little pastie LMAO (pause). That was risky for her singing live and all but she definitely pulled it off. I don’t know about Lady Gaga’s acceptance speech, the part where she said: “This is for God and the gays”. Don’t get me wrong , I have nothing against gays and I love God, but really Gaga?

Beyoncé won the “Video of the Year” award (and award for Best Choreography). She did such a humbling and beautiful thing by allowing Taylor Swift to join her on stage and get back her moment to shine. I applaud her for that.

And last but not least, Jay-Z killed it with Alicia Keys. I know people were questioning his voice, but if you listen to The Blueprint 3…umm yea. That was a very good performance and vocals from Miss Alicia Keys. My question is where was security when Lil’ Mama hopped on stage? That was weird and crazy to say the least, even Jay looked confused. I guess everybody needs some free publicity these days!

All-in-all the VMAs this year was great in my opinion. There were some many huge things that happened. Where else can see you Madonna giving a speech, Janet Jackson performing, Kanye having an outrage and embarrassing a teenage country singer, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Pink, Beyoncé and Jay-Z all perform and shut it down and a host like Russell Brand? Only in Neww Yo-orrrrrrrrk (in Alicia Keys’ voice). Well I hope my recap was good enough for you. I’ll have some highlight videos up soon enough, but for now enjoy the rest of the site.

P.S. Kanye did apologize via his personal blog. He said that he will apologize (I’m guessing face-to-face) tomorrow to Taylor.
