Eye Am Here 4 U

When my cousin was 19, he started to hear voices.

His whole life he lived rather normally as a smart, handsome, lady-loving, all-around typical teenager.

However, that all changed the day he decided to try drugs for the first time, which triggered a chemical imbalance in his brain, and resulted in schizophrenia.

It took one time. That was it.

And now a paternal genetic condition has changed his life, as he knows it.

My family gives him as much support as we can, and we love him deeply. But we can never understand the internal battle that he goes through.

My point is: health is not only physical. It is mental as well.

So when you stress out, become depressed, easily angered, & allow your anxiousness to drive you, it can heavily impact your level of functionality.

I know some of us work out regularly and try to diet.

But do you really know what it means to take care of your mind, heart and soul as well? Are you aware of the words you consume, the ideas you create, the consequences of your actions, and people you hang around?

Do you know what true joy is? Do you have a source of inspiration? Do you have someone to lean on when things get tough?

I know I always talk about healthy dishes but I thought this time you could try a different food for thought.

Do you know anyone who suffers from a mental health condition?

ToP THIS: How to Mend a Broken Heart

Call me crazy, but I'd rather break a bone, than to have my heart broken. That might be a little extreme, but my point is that mending a broken heart takes time, and is far from easy. In this TOP THiS, we'll explore some of the best ways to mend a broken heart.



1. DON'T LIVE IN THE PAST: What is done has been done. Whether the break-up was your fault or your partners', it has already happened, and can not be changed. Instead, use this as a lesson learned and prevent the same occurrences in your next relationship.

2. ALLOW YOURSELF TO GRIEVE: The end...A relationship is a loss and should be treated accordingly. It's alright to cry or feel sad and frustrated and it is normal if these feelings last for a few weeks or even months but...

3. NO PITY PARTIES!: Listening to sad songs, watching sad movies and eating tons of ice cream is not the way to go! Those things are just going to magnify the sadness you're already feeling. Think about it like this... your emotions are already fragile, so its your job to do everything in your power to strengthen them, not beat them up even more.

4. BE ENCOURAGED: Surround yourself with positivity! Be around positive people and engage in positive activities. Take care of your mind, body and soul. Steer clear from alcohol and drugs! They may make you feel better for the moment, but once you sober up, yourbroken heart is crying louder than ever. Also being under the influence is a huge welcome to stupid behavior. You wont drunk dial/text your ex if you're sober.


5. DON'T GET BORED: When you're bored, your mind wanders and has the opportunity to dwell. Soon you'll begin to feel sad about the situation, and since you're bored, you now have lots of time to entertain negative thoughts.

6. TESTIFY: Use your situation to help someone else. Don't use this as a time to become the victim and talk about how wrong you were treated. Talk about how you overcame obstacles and got your life back on track. Helping others without any expectation for a reward is rewarding in itself. Use the trials that were meant to break you down, as encouragement to help lift someone else up.

7. HAVE CONFIDENCE AND FAITH: Know that you will find someone else in due time that is a better fit for you. It is not the end of the world, there's going to be a brighter day! Also, have faith, God has your back, he knows the desires of your heart and if you put him 1st, you have no choice but to succeed in all aspects of your life (including your love life)

I know 7 is a strange number to stop at (lol) but those are my tips for mending a broken heart. If you have any more tips please feel free to share!
