effFAMILY AFFAIR

Kimora & Djimon are opening up about their family and marriage in the latest issue of Ebony magazine. It's great when you see families showing their love for one another in the press. Here is a snippet of the interview:

For high-profile duo beauty maven Kimora Lee Simmons and actor Djimon Hounsou, the term “marriage” is not defined by an official license. The two, who sealed their relationship during a “commitment ceremony” in front of Simmons’ daughters, Ming and Aoki Lee, while in Benin, Africa, said they are married.

Armed with their new baby boy, Kenzo Lee, the two say they feel very fortunate. In fact, Simmons says her ex-husband and father of her two daughters, Russell Simmons, is actively involved in her bicoastal life. “I feel like my life has fallen into the right place in a great way,” she said. “I’ve been very slow and deliberate, and I feel like it has paid off for me in ways that I could not have imagined.” (p. 68 in Ebony Magazine February issue)

elleelleeye xclusive: Kimora & Family OK Magazine

FINALLY!

The moment that eye've been waiting for is finally here. OK Magazine did an exclusive spread on Kimoro & Djimon's family, introducing their baby boy Kenzo Lee Hounsou. From the pictures he looks like he's going to be a heartbreaker.

Kimora says that Kenzo has a little fiery temper, which of course comes from the diva herself. Her labor was from 9'o clock at night to 11 AM the next morning, wow Kenzo! After the birth Kimora & Djimon called Africa relaying the news to his family. She also says that Djimon is very hands-on with the baby. This is Djimon's first child, but now makes him a father of three (Aioki and Ming - children of Kimora's last marriage to music mogul Russell Simmons).

Kimora states that she's in a happier place with her new family and is older and wiser. She looks very happy. I can't wait to hear more on the family. Will there be upcoming seasons of "The Fabulous Life"?

eyeYeyeYeye: Baby Phat to Go Bankrupt

Baby Phat, bankrupt, huh? Yes, Baby Phat! Here's a watered down version of the article:

Kellwood Co., one of the largest apparel manufacturers in the U.S., could be forced to file for bankruptcy soon, after it failed to reach an agreement with its bondholders, people familiar with the matter said.

The St. Louis-based company, which employs roughly 2,000 people and owns such popular clothing brands as Phat Farm, Sag Harbor and Vince, was taken private in February 2008 by buyout firm Sun Capital Partners for $542 million.
The twin effects of a heavy debt load and a sharp drop in consumer spending have crushed the company's financial results. Kellwood has a $140 million bond issue maturing Wednesday. Unable to refinance these bonds amid the constricted credit markets, Kellwood hired financial advisers to restructure its debt.

The firm has tried to defer the bond payment through a so-called exchange offer, in which the company would swap these bonds for ones maturing in 2014 with sweetened terms. Deutsche Bank AG, the largest holder of the bonds, elected not to tender the offer and a deal is unlikely to be reached, according to people familiar with the discussions.

A Chapter 11 filing for protection from creditors could come as early as next week, though it remains possible the company could avoid such a move. The company has about $500 million in total outstanding debt and about $800 million in annual sales.

Michael Kramer, installed as Kellwood's chief executive officer 10 months ago, said
Deutsche Bank had indicated it intended to accept the exchange offer, but then changed its mind. "They've put us in a bad spot and we can't understand how they could rationalize this economically in any way," said Mr. Kramer, who said the company is in the process of hiring bankruptcy counsel. "We believe this bond offering benefits everyone and their position is very disappointing." Spokesmen for Deutsche Bank and Sun Capital declined to comment.

eyeWant: To See Baby Kenzo

I don't know about all of you, but I want to see Djimon and Kimora's son Kenzo Lee Hounsou. Kimora sent this messag via Twitter
“Welcome into the world Kenzo Lee Hounsou. Kimora’s + Djimon’s baby boy was born on Saturday May, 30th. He was 8 lbs and 20 inches.”
Kenzo Lee Hounsou joins his sisters Ming Lee,9, and Aoki Lee,6. The name Kenzo is of Japanese origin and it means “Wise and Three.” Kenzo is the usual English transcription of the Japanese name Kenzou (pronounced with a long vowel ‘o’). Famous bearers include the fashion designer Kenzo Takada.

But I guess we will just have to wait. How do you think the baby will look? Do you think Kenzo will carry most of her genes or his?
