What Are You Waiting, 4?

How anticipated was Beyoncé's 4th solo studio album? So much that it was leaked as early as a month before it was due to release. But today, fans and foes will have to wait no longer, because the new album, entitled 4, is here! Featuring singles, "1+1", "Best Thing I Never Had" and the infamous "Run The World (Girls)", the album has set a tone and a bar for that matter. Some weren't expecting the eclectically put together album, but its either something you'll love or as a cynic, you'll love to criticize. Despite the good or bad reviews, I'm here to let you know that as a fan, I was not disappointed.

eyeBelieve that once again, the "Queen B" has created a timeless album. What are my favorite tracks? Let's see..."Love On Top" is on the top of the list. I love this mid-tempo, pop 80s track. I love the chord modulations, the vocals and the groove. Another on of my favorites is "Countdown". Although it doesn't sound like the mature Beyoncé that we were introduced to as early as her first album Dangerously In Love and the "I Am" side of I Am...Sasha Fierce, it's catchy and fun to sing. One this about Beyoncé, is with her albums, I always expect more, but I guess that's a great marketing scheme. I think it's a well put together album and there's something for everyone.

Is the album what you expected? What's your favorite track? Least favorite? COMMENT!

JUNK FOoD: Sometimes FAME Kills

"The album is what I would like them to talk about" how idealistic, and certainly preferable in the case, of Chris Brown as he spoke with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America recently. His objective was to promote his album F.A.M.E which hit stores on March 22nd; however, things sharply took a turn for the worst ending in Breezy trashing the dressing room and leaving the ABC studios shirtless. If you follow the old consideration, "Bad publicity is better than no publicity", you might chance putting a positive spin on this occurence. BUT if you're like the rest of us, you will agree that this did not help an already considerably fledgeling public opinion.

In theory, yes Chris Brown should've been able to concentrate on the good and his album release - but in reality, the chances of him dancing his way into people's hearts might never happen. This is show-business folks, and that's what the people want, a show.

As an ABC spokesperson put it, "As always, we asked questions that are relevant and newsworthy, and that's what we did in this interview with Mr. Brown." When its all said and done, the media has to do their job just as Chris has to do his. I wonder how he would rate that performance?

eyeListen: "Jam" & "21st Century Girl"

The world of pop music is making a bigger splash each and everyday. Today we have releases from rising "Popstars" Kim Kardashian and Willow Smith. Despite the prior leakage of her debut single, Kim Kardashian officially released "Jam" produced by The Dream on Ryan Seacrest's radio show today. After hearing the track, I was just as surprised as hearing the debut of "Tardy for the Party" by Kim Zolciac. Don't get me wrong, the track is cool, but I wasn't blown away or anything. Most of the track is auto-tuned, laced with vocals from The Dream. I give it to Kim for branding herself in a number of different markets. One thing you can't deny is the girl knowing how to keep the money rolling in.

With Willow's undeniable success with her single "Whip My Hair", it's no mistaking that she has the talent and charisma to become the new "It" girl of the industry. She recently premiered a snippet of her upcoming single "21st Century Girl" on Oprah's Most Talented Kids episode.
The 10-year-old has been compared to Rihanna for her sound and fashion sense. We can only imagine that her success will be just as great. Peep the snippet of "21st Century Girl" & Kim's "Jam" below and be sure to leave us your opinions. Happy listening!

eyeApplaud: Thurgood Marshall College Fund

Support us and we shall grow; especially in times like these when our voices being heard is necessary. Considering the changes that may loom on the political front, its imperative that we support and promote progress and philanthropy. The Thurgood Marshall College Fund epitomizes that. The philanthropy was founded more than 20 years ago, with the objective of providing assistance to people attending the 47 Historical Black Colleges and Law Schools nationwide. The fund held its 23rd Annual Awards Dinner recently in New York City. eyeWatch: "Whip My Hair"

Willow Smith, no stranger to the entertainment industry, is declaring that she is a true artist. In more ways then one, Willow brightens up a room with her style, personality and wit in her first video for her single "Whip My Hair", directed by Ray Kay. The nine-year-old took things a step further from the usual painting the town red cliché. Instead, the Roc Nation signee whips her hair enough to add life to her bland classmates. The video features lot of color, wild hairdos, stellar, yet youthful fashion, and a cameo from her big brother, Jaden Smith.

HAiR WaRS: Trina vs. Rihanna

Hats off for our first edition of Hair Wars!

Trina vs. Rihanna

We've had Rihanna's red head debut featured in our Haute or Hate It series, but now it looks like Trina's trying it too. Will this red hair be a fad, or will more celebrities catch the fever? Let's remember who really came in the game with the colored hair: Keyshia Cole, Charlie Baltimore, and Eve. I guess it's just "fashion" repeating itself as usual. Time to vote on who wins...

When Women Need It Most

It seems that the brother Tyler Perry always delivers. We love to watch the movies, as well as criticize, but yet - WE STILL WATCH and crave more. This time around he has catered to our sisters A.K.A. "Colored Girls" as he calls them. The poster here features the inexplicably gorgeously sex Janet Jackson, the object of every mans affection, and wet dreams since the 80s. Formerly titled "Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf" (inspired by a 1975 play by Ntozake Shange), the film centers around seven women and their confessions of battles concerning love, abandonment and domestic violence.

Featuring an all-star cast including: Anika Noni Rose, Kerry Washington, Janet Jackson, Kimberly Elise, Phylicia Rashad, Loretta Devine, Tessa Thompson, and Thandie Newton. The movie is due in theatres November 5th.

Maino vs. The Jenks

When is enough, enough? You be the judge. MTV's show "World of Jenks" took an interesting turn recently, when Jenks took on the mission of spending a week with Hustle Hard CEO/ Atlantic artist Maino. The BK came out of Maino after Jenks got out of pocket and was in need of a Young Berg (Reference: Young Berg slapped by Maino).

Now for the entertainment purpose, its funny and all but I was perusing some commentary on the situation and someone made a good point, "Maino uses words to eat, and should have been able to break it down verbally"; things that make you go hmm.

I am not one to judge, but it's possible the brother took it too far. Yes he could have rationalized with him, or expressed himself in another manner; but the question remains: How much can a person take? Can anyone be the magistrate on this? I for one consider myself to be very rational, as well I assume you consider yourself but how do you deliberate on such things. When is enough enough? How many of us believe that we could have survived long enough to get the $100 on MTV's Boiling Points?
Easier said than done I caution.

In this case, do we really agree that "Keeping it real" - for Maino- went wrong? They say even bad press is better than no press at all. Also, remember the strategy of show business; is there a Maino album on the rise? I wouldn't be surprised. Someone definitely should warned Jenks of the dos and don'ts on Gates. BK stand up and when Bill Cosby, Oprah, and Mr. O'Reilly are looking sit back down. We don't need any more criticism.

VMA 2010 Commentary

From the pre-show to the big opening act. It's what is talked about every year on the second week of September, the MTV Video Music Awards. Here's ♥ t i f f a n y's dish on what's going down from the White Carpet, to the stage.

Nicki Minaj was the topic most talked about as her haters, "Barbz" & "Kens" anticipated her performance during the VMA pre-show. If you saw it, you may have been just as confused as I was from Nicki's Judy Jetson look, to Will.i.Am's black face - literally. Another woman who is always talked about - Lady Gaga took home two VMAs before the show even started. But of course, what was talked about even more than her winnings was, her outfit. She wore an Alexander McQueen gown from his last collection and looked as normal as she has ever been.

The show opened up with Eminem & Rihanna and what I have to say about that is, the set of the show looked wonderful. Don't get me wrong, I love their music, but the performance wasn't anything to talk about, besides Rihanna's red hair; which we showed you in our last Haute or Hate It post. I'm excited to see how funny Chelsea Handler is...and this picture says it all (Chelsea as Lady Gaga). She was completely hilarious!!!

Kim Kardashian was introduced as a "fashion icon" which made me screw up my face; but she did look pretty. She introduced heartthrob, Justin Beiber. His performance was cool. He brought the young dancers out on stage and had the hair going as usual. He let us see him play the drums; which was excited as seeing someone play the drums. Needless to say, the kid has talent.

Usher performed "OMG", and for me it was a mix between J. Lo's "Waiting for Tonight" video and a B2K performance. There were plenty of LED lights/rays to go around, accompanied by some dancing. Will.i.Am was in the audience and the performance was alright. At this point I am waiting to be impressed...

Here's something to wake you up, Florence + The Machines! Although some were confused about who she was and why she was performing, I enjoyed it. She delivered the most interesting/best performance thus far. Amber Riley & the cast of "Glee" announced the Best Pop Video award. Amber looked fabulous! Lady Gaga took another award in her heavy gown that she couldn't even walk in, but she looked fab!

And kudos to Taylor Swift for making headlines again with her "diss record" performance to Kanye West. Too bad the performance was bad on the vocal end. But she looked nice and the visuals were on point.

Drake's performance with Mary J. Blige and Swizz Beatz is just what I needed! He looked sexy, yes, I'm talking about Drake LOL. His set was on point and he woke me up from the dreadful award show I've been watching for the past 90 minutes. Best performance goes to Drake thus far!

Columbian actress, Sofia Vergara announced the award for "Best Hip-Hop" video, in which Eminem took home. I'm not too sure if anyone understood what she was saying lol, but Eminem and Lady Gaga are racking up!

B.o.B., Bruno Mars, and Haley Williams ft. Paramore hit the stage next. Bruno sounded great (as usual), Haley looked dope, and Bobby Ray's energy was on point. A great performance! Paramore performed "Only Exception" and it was beautiful -definitely in my list of top performances! Singer, Robyn, had her 30 second spotlight (as did Travie McCoy & Jason Deluro) and I truly wished she would've gotten to do a full performance, she's so cool!

Justin Beiber won the award for Best New Artist. It just wasn't a winning night for Young Money! Welcome to MTV!

Linkin Park performed, but I wasn't feeling it too much. The lyrics were sang too harsh, and it didn't feel like the LP I knew from a few years back. They did their performance LA's Griffith Observatory.

And for the time almost everyone has been waiting for...Video of the Year (introduced by Cher - who had Lady Gaga in tears); went to...Lady Gaga for "Bad Romance". She definitely was the winner of the night!

And the 2nd most anticipated moment of the night, Kanye West's performance! K. West set off his performance with a white column, a beat machine, a mic, and a red suit (and red sneakers to match). Next he brought out the Clipse, ballerina dancers, and an autotune microphone. "Let's have a toast for the assh***s, have a toast for the jerkoffs, let's have a toast for the scumbags. Baby I got a plan, runaway as fast as you can." He left the audience chanting his name.

Overall, I'll rate the 2010 VMAs a 6.5/10. What did you think of the show? Who was your favorite performer? COMMENT!!!

FASHiON FiGHT: Reese vs. Olivia

In this edition of FASHiON FiGHT we have actress, Reese Witherspoon, and The City star Olivia Palermo. Both ladies stepped out in this burnt orange water-color skirt. Olivia wore hers to a Henri Bendel event in New York. She styled her skirt with a long-sleeved white blouse, suede tan lace-up booties by Elizabeth and James, and a Hermes clutch. Reese opted for a more casual approach by wearing the skirt with a spaghetti-strapped black tank top, and sandals, for a sunny day out in Brentwood, California.

Haute or Hate It: Little Red Rihanna

If there's any celebrity talked about more for their hair and fashion sense, opposed to their actual talent, it's Rihanna! There's no doubt about it that her style is to be reckoned with, and that she can do just about anything to her hair or wardrobe and look fabulous. But we're not so sure about this one. We embraced the fiery red short hairdo, but what do you all think about this one? No too sure it's a few tracks put in, a wig, or what, but it's red, and it's longer than it was before. Kanye Trying to Steal Selita From Maxwell

There may be some beef in the music world between rapper Kanye West and R&B singer Maxwell. Why? According to a source close to Maxwell, the R&B singer and model Selita Banks have been dating fairly seriously for almost six months. The insider explained, "They were trying to keep it out of the public because they wanted it to last...they really cared for each other."

Well that's where rapper Kanye West comes in. The insider explains, "Kanye and Selita were sneaking around behind Maxwell's back. This is crazy because they were all friends. For Ye to do that is beyond grimey." And the insider adds, "He'll get his though, Maxwell is no punk."

Remember this is the VERY SAME thing Kanye did with Kim Kardashian, while she was with Reggie Bush. DANG!!!(Mediatakeout)
