Support us and we shall grow; especially in times like these when our voices being heard is necessary. Considering the changes that may loom on the political front, its imperative that we support and promote progress and philanthropy. The Thurgood Marshall College Fund epitomizes that. The philanthropy was founded more than 20 years ago, with the objective of providing assistance to people attending the 47 Historical Black Colleges and Law Schools nationwide. The fund held its 23rd Annual Awards Dinner recently in New York City. The event featured the Guest of Honor Patti Labelle, co-hosts Anthony Anderson and Nicey Nash, Anika Noni Rose, Laura Izibor, and more.

eyeApplaud: 106 N Park

In 2000, BET premiered its first #1 rated live show, “106 N Park”. Not only was it a safe haven for teens everywhere, but it also served as a place for music artists, movie stars, and icons alike to call home.

The original hosts, AJ & Free made us laugh and we recognized their chemistry from day one. We couldn’t wait for Free to show off another pair of fly shoes, and I don’t know about you, but I respected AJ’s boldness to rock those locks in every episode!

We were saddened when they left, and cheered on Big Tigger and Julissa when they attempted to take over. We voted continuously for the next hosts, and brought Terrence J & Rocsi to victory.

Ten years later, after Ciara’s first performance, the thousands of screaming fans for heartthrobs like Bow Wow and Chris Brown, and 100s of countdowns later, 106 N Park still leads another generation of youngsters in Black Entertainment Television.
