10 Ways to Inspire

Today's "Toast to Repost" will leave you inspired and ready to inspire others...enjoy!

Top Ten Ways to Inspire Others to Be Their Best
by Michael Angier

We all know people who are inspiring. But just how does one inspire others? Here are ten simple ways you can inspire people to be their best:

1. Be a good example. People watch what you do more than they listen to what you say. Be someone worth emulating.

2. Care about others. People don’t care about how much you know until they know how much you care. Ask questions. Take a genuine interest in people.

3. Encouragement. Everyone goes through tough times. When you support people and encourage them through these times, you’ll be inspiring them to see the best in themselves and in the situation.

4. Be inspired yourself. Look for people, ideas, environments and knowledge that you find inspiring and motivating.

5. Share from your own experience. You have more to share than you realize. Mine the rich experiences of your life and share your wisdom from your unique point of view. You may be the only one who can touch someone with your inspiring message.

6. Be vulnerable. Be willing to share your failures as well as your successes. Others will relate to you. They’ll understand that they’re not the only ones with challenges.

7. Tell stories. Facts tell and stories sell. They inspire, too. We learn best from parables and we all need to develop our own inspiring stories.

8. Be a good communicator. Increasing your ability to communicate effectively is a critical element for you to inspire others. Watch how you speak and what you say. Invest in your communication skills.

9. Challenge people. Many of us have had teachers who at times seemed more like tormentors than mentors. They challenged us to do our best, and we were better for it. Practice "carefrontation" —the careful and caring confrontation of others.

10. Read. It may not follow that all readers are leaders, but certainly all leaders are readers. Stay informed. Share what you read with others. Tell people about books that have inspired you. Share the knowledge.

I hope these ten tips help you to inspire someone to become a better them!

T2R: "Be Fearless"

Today's Toast to Repost is for anyone dealing with the emotion of fear...Here's how to overcome it.

Three Steps to Overcome FEAR

No matter what point we come to in our lives we all have something that shakes up our world a bit; leading us to become scared. There are many ways people try to overcome their fears; from silly antics to avoidance. But the best way to face any problem in our life is to consult with the person who has the best advice in the world...God.

1st - When faced with a fear you should humble yourself and accept the fact that you need God's help. 1 Peter 5:6 says, "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time."

2nd - Make the decision to cast all of your anxieties, worries and concerns, once and for all on Him and trust Him to teach you what you need to know in order to change fear into faith. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you."

3rd - Take a stand and choose to believe in God, accepting everything He said as truth! 1 Peter 5:8-9 says, "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings."

When you stand, God will stand with you. When stay grounded in God's Word, you will become immovable and determined through Jesus Christ.

Still scared? COMMENT!

eyeForgiveYou

Today's Toast To Repost is a post on forgiveness. One must forgive themselves in order to forgive others.

F O R G I V E N E S S

"There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love. - Bryant H. McGill

The Three Essentials of Forgiveness

1. Forgive Yourself First:

In order to succeed in your path to forgiveness you must first forgive yourself. How can you expect to forgive someone else when you can’t even forgive your own faults and shortcomings? So often we forget this essential first step.

Sometimes we have issues within ourselves that keep us guarded and stubborn from realizing the truth. We expose others to cover our own insecurities. Once you learn to forgive yourself, forgiving others will become easier.

2. Accept Your Past:

Depending on how much hurt you have suffered in a particular relationship, this can and most likely will, take some time. But with the right attitude, anything is possible.

Look you can’t change what has happened to you, you and I both know that, but what you can change is how you look at your past events. I’m not suggesting that you have to recall hurtful periods of time and smile about them, but rather simply acknowledge that they have occurred and move on.
Soon you will realize that if your relationship is to ever exist in a peaceful state, you first have to accept our past.

3. Choose The Path Of Happiness:

If you choose to forgot the path of forgiveness you are essentially choosing a path of misery. Forgiving can be challenging, but forgiveness is essential in living life to your fullest potential. One of the greatest reasons we are miserable is because we subconsciously believe that suffering is necessary. We amplify the hurt long after the initial act has taken place.

What we fail to realize though, is that suffering is not normal, we choose to suffer. The sad thing is we are naturally made to be happy, but our social conditioning tends to make us believe other wise. We don’t need the latest product to make us happy, the only thing we need to live a happy life is a happy mind, a mind that can love and forgive.

Who is it that you need to forgive? What are you waiting for?

T2R: S-T-I-N-G

Toast to Repost:

S-T-I-N-G
How to beat procrastination

It doesn't matter if you're a 12-year-old being told to clean your room - or a corporate executive that needs to write up a business proposal, we're all affected by it...procrastination. Here's a solution to this problem; turn your procrastination into action! I know what you're thinking, you've tried it all, right? Wrong! One technique that you may not have heard of is called the "STING" method. This is a fairly new method of addressing procrastination, and it's an acronym that stands for:

S - Select one task.
T - Time yourself.
I - Ignore everything else.
N - No breaks.
G - Give yourself a reward.

Select one task you've been putting off. Break it down to just one small piece if it's complicated. For instance, if the task is cleaning the kitchen, reorganizing a drawer is just one piece of the larger task. Time yourself. Use a kitchen timer so you don't have to watch the clock and give the task one full hour. Children might need to reduce that time to just 10 or 15 minutes. Ignore everything else that needs to be done. No breaks allowed!

Give yourself a small reward when the task is completed (a few minutes on Twitter, Facebook, a piece of chocolate...whatever you need).

Everyone's attention span is different, but it may be wise to I set a timer for three 30-minute increments with 5-minute breaks (depending on how much you have to do), exit out of your email and Internet explorer and go into your own personal space. The beauty of it is ... it works! I hope it works for you!

Skye's the Limit

Today's Toast To Repost is:
Skye's The Limit
An interview with Skye Townsend

She's an aspiring singer, songwriter, actress and fashionista! Who, you might ask? Skye Townsend. Yes, Skye is someone you might want to keep an eye on for the future. At just 16-years-old, this young lady has a fire burning deep within that will make her a superstar. Born the daughter of actor, comedian, film director, and writer, Robert Townsend, there's no doubt in our minds that Skye will continue on to do great things. elleELLEeye sat down with Skye (who was accompanied by her best friend Malcolm) and had an east coast to west coast interview via USTREAM. If you missed it live, here's what happened:

When did you start singing?
I was 3-years-old when I started singing.

Do you remember your first performance?
Yes, it was so scary, but I sang "Real Situation" by Bob Marley.

We know that you're a fan of Beyonce, but besides her, who inspires you to pursue music?
Definitely Billy Holiday and Lena Horne.

We saw the Angelique and Skye show on YouTube, are you also considering acting or comedy as a career?
Right now I’m training to become an actress.

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not making YouTube videos, singing or in school?
Sleep. It's important to get rest and take care of your body.

Do you play any instruments?
I used to play piano when I was younger, but I wasn't disciplined enough to stick with it.

Do you participate in any talent shows in school?
My school doesn't really have any shows like that, but I do participate in anything artistic.

Have you had any offes from record labels yet?
Righ now I can't dicuss that, but I am still unsigned and looking for a deal. I'm focusing on my singing and songwriting.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Oreo Cheesecake.

If you could do a collaboration with any male/female artist who would it be and why?
There are so many amazing people in the industry but I would work with anyone who has a lot of passion and drive. If I had to pick I would work with Wyclef, he's a genius.

What do you want the world to know about Skye?
That I am motivated and serious about what I do. And that I eat, sleep and breathe music.

What’s next for Skye?
I've been working on designing some fashion pieces. I plan to sell these pieces starting bids at $.99 on eBay.com. Other than that, I'm focusing on my singing and songwriting.

We wish Skye the best in all of her endeavors! Keep up with what's she's doing via:

Twitter
and YouTube [Angelique & Skye Show].

T2R: HOODED BACKPACK

I did this post back in September and thought that it was actually cool enough to bring back. The hooded bookbag...

After seeing the New Boyz's video "Tie Me Down" featuring Ray J, I saw this cool bookbag that member Ben J was wearing (see photo above). I thought that it was a clever idea to have a bookbag with a hood on it, so I went searching and found which is probably the only model of the bookbag made. For under $20, you can get the Hooded Skeleton Backpack in: BLACK or RED.

It is cool, but I was just thinking, if you don't have an umbrella, your head would be safe, but it's over for the rest of your body. Maybe they should make a model for girls.

What do you think...clever or just a waste of money? COMMENT.

T2R: BiMusical!

As I was cleaning up today I was singing Music Is My Hot Hot by CSS, you know the song that goes "music is my boyfriend, music is my girlfriend"...Well anyways, as I was singing that I stopped and started to wonder if music was a person, would it be a male or a female? I mean there's obviously no right or wrong answer to this question but I'm interested in seeing what people have to say about this. And when I say music I mean like all music not just R&B, so your answer has to be your overall view of music, no matter how complex it might be.

If I had to choose, I would say that music is a male. It makes us happy, sad, laugh, cry, wanna fight, hyped up, feel like we're in Heaven, make us want to wish someone to hell, etc. I think you catch my drift here. Of course I think that some aspects of it are more feminine, so I would then say music is a gay male, but that would be too extreme, so then I would say it's a bisexual male [lol]. Okay I'm going to stop before I really start to make no sense at all. But maybe I'll ask the question again some time in the future looking for a more specific answer.

What's your opinion? If music had to be a gender, would it be a male or female? COMMENT!

T2R: 9 Things Women Say

Today's Toast to Repost is a post that a lot of people found to be true and interesting at the same time; 9 Things Women Say! If you haven't read it, or just wonder what these nine things are, here you go...Happy reading!

Things Women Say

#1 Fine
This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

#2 Five Minutes
If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the football before helping around the house.

#3 Go Ahead
This is a dare, not permission. Don’t Do It!

#4 A Loud Sigh
This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer quickly to No. 9 for the meaning of nothing.)

#5 That’s Okay
This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

#6 Thanks
A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you’re welcome. (I want to add a clause here - This is true, unless she says ‘Thanks a lot’, which is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say ‘you’re welcome’ - that will bring on No. 7).

#7 Whatever
Is a woman’s way of saying, "F*#% YOU!"

#8 Don’t worry about it, I got it
Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking ‘What’s wrong?’ For the woman’s response refer to No. 4.

#9 Nothing
This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in “Fine”.

Toast to Repost: Ode2theNiceGuys

ODE TO THE nice guys

This is a tribute to the nice guys. The nice guys that finish last, that never become more than friends, that endure hours of whining and bitching about what assholes guys are, while disproving the very point. This is dedicated to those guys who always provide a shoulder to lean on but restrain themselves to tentative hugs, those guys who hold open doors and give reassuring pats on the back and sit patiently outside the changing room at department stores. This is in honor of the guys that obligingly reiterate how cute/beautiful/smart/funny/sexy their female friends are at the appropriate moment, because they know most girls need that litany of support. This is in honor of the guys with open minds, with laid-back attitudes, with honest concern. This is in honor of the guys who respect a girl’s every facet, from her privacy to her theology to her clothing style.

This is for the guys who escort their drunk, bewildered female friends back from parties and never take advantage once they’re at her door, for the guys who accompany girls to bars as buffers against the rest of the creepy male population, for the guys who know a girl is fishing for compliments but give them out anyway, for the guys who always play by the rules in a game where the rules favor cheaters, for the guys who are accredited as boyfriend material but somehow don’t end up being boyfriends, for all the nice guys who are overlooked, underestimated, and unappreciated, for all the nice guys who are manipulated, misled, and unjustly abandoned, this is for you.

This is for that time she left 40 urgent messages on your cell phone, and when you called her back, she spent three hours painstakingly dissecting two sentences her boyfriend said to her over dinner. And even though you thought her boyfriend was a chump and a jerk, you assured her that it was all ok and she shouldn’t worry about it. This is for that time she interrupted the best killing spree you’d ever orchestrated in GTA3 to rant about a rumor that romantically linked her and the guy she thinks is the most repulsive person in the world. And even though you thought it was immature and you had nothing against the guy, you paused the game for two hours and helped her concoct a counter-rumor to spread around the floor. This is also for that time she didn’t have a date, so after numerous vows that there was nothing "serious" between the two of you, she dragged you to a party where you knew nobody, the beer was awful, and she flirted shamelessly with you, justifying each fit of reckless teasing by announcing to everyone: "oh, but we’re just friends!" And even though you were invited purely as a symbolic warm body for her ego, you went anyways. Because you’re nice like that.

The nice guys don’t often get credit where credit is due. And perhaps more disturbing, the nice guys don’t seem to get laid as often as they should. And I wish I could logically explain this trend, but I can’t. From what I have observed on campus and what I have learned from talking to friends at other schools and in the workplace, the only conclusion I can form is that many girls are just illogical, manipulative bitches. Many of them claim they just want to date a nice guy, but when presented with such a specimen, they say irrational, confusing things such as "oh, he’s too nice to date" or "he would be a good boyfriend but he’s not for me" or "he already puts up with so much from me, I couldn’t possibly ask him out!" or the most frustrating of all: "no, it would ruin our friendship." Yet, they continue to lament the lack of datable men in the world, and they expect their too-nice-to-date male friends to sympathize and apologize for the men that are jerks. Sorry, guys, girls like that are beyond my ability to fathom. I can’t figure out why the connection breaks down between what they say (I want a nice guy!) and what they do (I’m going to sleep with this complete ass now!). But one thing I can do, is say that the nice-guy-finishes-last phenomenon doesn’t last forever. There are definitely many girls who grow out of that train of thought and realize they should be dating the nice guys, not taking them for granted. The tricky part is finding those girls, and even trickier, finding the ones that are single.

So, until those girls are found, I propose a toast to all the nice guys. You know who you are, and I know you’re sick of hearing yourself described as ubiquitously nice. But the truth of the matter is, the world needs your patience in the department store, your holding open of doors, your party escorting services, your propensity to be a sucker for a pretty smile. For all the crazy, inane, absurd things you tolerate, for all the situations where you are the faceless, nameless hero, my accolades, my acknowledgement, and my gratitude go out to you. You do have credibility in this society, and your well deserved vindication is coming.

eye'm Thirsty Toast to Repost: Talented Genius

Here's is this week's "Toast to Repost", drink up!
Talent hits a target no one else can hit; Genius hits a target no one else can see. - Arthur Schopenhauer

Talent is defined as "a special natural ability". By natural, I guess that would mean that it is something one was born with or comes to one with minimal effort. This makes Arthur Schopenhauer's quote so much more clear if you didn't understand it the first time around (if you didn't maybe you're talented at over analysing lol). But seriously, I think that everyone posses a talent, even if you only have the ability to blow a bubble bigger than your head. Some people try to deny their talents or take them for granted, but there is no reason to be shameful of your gifts. I'm not saying to go out and flaunt as if what you can do is the best thing in the world, but take pride in what you can do, just don't indulge in it.

Genius is "an exceptional natural capacity of intellect", which hits that target that not everyone can see. That's amazing. I'm no genius, but I think that those who are the ones treated differently in the world and are taken for granted. They are the outcasts, the ones who arrive to class early and leave late. The ones who choose the hardest topics to write a paper on and ace it! Now if that's not a gift I don't know what is. It's crazy how people who are talented can tease a genius and not realize how it affects the both of them. If you tease someone because of their abilities, you're taking energy out of what you could be putting into your talent and wasting it on being someone you shouldn't be. This leads those "geniuses" to not want to be who they really are.

Remember, "Talent hits a target no one else can hit; Genius hits a target no one else can see." So don't always aim for the bullseye, dare to be different, and don't waste your talent, or ability to learn. Put the gifts God has given you into good use, or else you just might lose out on something special.

What are your talents? Are you a genius? Share your story with a comment =)

eye'm Thirsty Toast to Repost: How Disciplined Are You?

TOAST TO REPOST...CHEERS!
Discipline is just choosing between what you want now and what you want most. This may be a hard thing to do for a lot of people because when we have a choice of instant gratification and a hard earned reward, we would rather settle for less. When you take on new challenges, you must realize that it's call a challenge for a reason, it's simply not meant to be easy. Whether it's a new diet, giving up something or someone is unhealthy for you, or to break an addiction, you must put your all in to get all that you can get out of it. Remember great sacrifice equals great reward! Here are some tips on being discipline:

1. Write down your goals and be specific. Post them on the mirror, refrigerator and in your car. Each day you will have a visual reminder of your plan. Stay focused.

2. Tell on yourself and be honest. Share your goals with close friends and family. Ask them to kindly tell you if you're off track.

3. Get rid of temptation. Remove the things that are tempting from your surroundings. If sugar, alcohol, cigarettes or money are your enemies leave them to someone who can handle them better.

4. Break routine habits and put a new regiment in place. If a smoking habit is triggered by morning coffee and a chat with your friend, have tea and call your friend later. Take a different route on the way home if the local bar looks like a good place to stop.

5. Refrain from saying all that is really on your mind. Think before you speak. Practice this discipline of restraint. It could help avoid many unnecessary conflicts.

6. Sit in those uncomfortable feelings for awhile. Most of the time the urge to get what you want will pass. If a sudden desire to go to the casino seems overwhelming, give up control of your money and let someone else manage your account.

7. Change a thought and replace it with a new idea. Alleviate stress by refraining from thinking negative and let a positive attitude lead the way. Discipline takes practice, patience and a willingness to change. Be firm, but kind to yourself.

How do you keep yourself disciplined? Let me know if these tips work.

eye'm Thirsty Toast to Repost: GYT

Today's eye'm Thirsty Toast to Repost: GYT. It's that important...

I'm sure we have all seen the commercials on MTV featuring entertainers such as Soulja Boy, Joy Bryant, Perez Hilton, etc, but what exactly does GYT mean? According to MTV.com it mean this,

By the age of 25, one in two young people will get a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Most won't know it. GYT is about taking control of YOUR (sex) life by getting tested - and talking openly about it.

Getting tested is easier than ever before. Urine-based tests are now available for chlamydia and gonorrhea, two of the most common STDs. Rapid HIV tests can provide results in as fast as 20 minutes with a swab inside the mouth. It's YOUR (Sex) Life sums it all up for you, including symptoms (when there are any) and treatment options. What are you waiting for? BRB…GYT Today! So …GYT … Pass It On!

GetYourselfTested people! eyeCare about my life. Do you?

eye'm Thirsty Toast to Repost: Make the Most of Yourself

I think a lot of times people fail to realize how important making the most out of yourself is, so here's my toast to repost! Let's start doing something people!

The very best thing you can do for the whole world
is to make the most of yourself.
—Wallace Wattles

A lot of times we get caught up in how the world perceives us and what we want the world to think of us. I think one of the most important things to do in life is to make the best of yourself no matter what. Either way you look at it, you are living in a world that cannot change you unless you allow it to. If you want to be the best, make the world your resource. There is so much out there for you to explore, so why not take advantage of it.

We all have star quality within us that is just waiting to break through. Although we may not be able to physically reach everyone in the world, we should always strive to be the best and take into consideration that we may mean the world to someone. It's important that we all know how important we are and how significant we may be in someone else's life, even if it's just one person. So use the world at your dispense and make sure you do what's best for you with each and every step!
