For the past four years, we have enjoyed the opportunity to enrich the lives of girls aged 12 to 17 years old through mentorship, arts education, cultural exploration and public service. At BLACK GIRLS ROCK!, young women are offered access to enrichment programs and opportunities that place special emphasis on personal development through the arts and cooperative learning.

By speaking to the next generation in their formative years about issues of self-worth, goals, and aspirations, the organization reinforces the message that young women need not objectify themselves or relinquish their autonomy. BLACK GIRLS ROCK! has boldly taken on the crisis of our female youth of color here in America head on and understands the need for positive self-images and a strong sense of awareness. Bow Wow & Angela: Take Two

Seems like Bow Wow's got his birthday wish before he blew out his candles this year. The rapper turned 23 yesterday and celebrated his birthday with a lady friend that we may be familiar with; his ex-girlfriend (current girlfriend?) Angela Simmons. *Photo by Prince Williams @ ATLpics.net

Fantasia Barrino decided to support the Kardashians and wear a piece from their line with Bebe. Too bad it wasn't as flattering as we would have liked it to be...

Fantasia, For Real

How does one person, become the sole provider of six people, including their mother and older brother? It's easy when you go from being a single mother to an American Idol. Yes Fantasia Barrino's new reality show, "Fantasia, For Real" debuted on VH1 and it looks like it might be worth keeping on air. Although it is very reminiscent of Monica's "Still Standing", I'll watch it. You can expect to see her working on her new album, working to get her GED, and being a mom and so much more. If you missed the first episode, here it is...Happy Watching!
