Perfect Transition Shoes

What shoes can transition from Summer to Fall?

Finding the perfect transition item can be a challenge, but when found they're the best items in anyone's closet. The item(s) can range from blouses, skirts, and most importantly shoes. Doesn't it feel great to be able to wear your favorite pair of platforms in the Summer and Fall? It can be a journey to find the perfect shoe that doesn't show too much toe but enough to be considered sexy for the weather. I have put together shoes that will fit perfectly into your wardrobe and a few suggestions of how to wear them.

KLITSCH by ALDO $110

This is a great color for both season. It can be a substitue for the summer favorite cognac tone. This shoe can be wore with jeans or dressed up with a jersey dress for the Fall.

MCSPIRIT by ALDO $100

The lovely cognac with the comfortable heel is the perfect shoe for the Fall and especially the Summer. This shoe can be easily worn with a summer dress and with any Fall fashion such as trousers and leggings.

CREGER from ALDO $90

Instead of the strappy formal sandal this is the perfect replacement in taupe. This would look great with any simple formal dress or you can add some funk to it and wear some stockings.

CARRLY from Steve Madden $69.97

This bulky platform is just right especially for any weather. I love this shoe the best because of the color and the studded details around the front of the heel.

All stores are now ready for Fall 2010, and have delivered plenty of shoes and array of styles and prices. Similar shoes can be found also in Bakers Shoes, Nine West, and VictoriasSecret.com. Happy shopping!

eyeAsk: How Do You Define Change?

[[to become different, to become altered or modified, the substitution of one thing for another, to transform or convert, a balance of money that is returned when the sum tendered in payment is larger than the sum due, to give and take reciprocally]]

C H A N G E

I hear it often, that the only thing that is constant is change. It's true. Things are constantly changing; the way we sleep, the way we treat others, the things we believe in, the questions we ask, the answers we receive...nothing on this earth is the same everyday.

"People change, it's inevitable. Whether they're changing for better or worse is not for you to decide. Change is growth." Words said by yours truly and although it was a random thought, it provoked a thought from one of our followers on Twitter: "...Or the reverse of growth. I may grow from it, but what about the one who choose to make it a bad situation?" - @NixonNyce

Is there a reverse? Even if you change and regress into your old ways, your situation will still be different due to what you have learned from your previous encounters. You may get into a bad situation, but you'll learn from it and grow. There are so many different directions you can take on this topic, but one that stuck with me most was from Lauryn Hill on her MTV Unplugged 2.0 CD:

"And as I grow, you’re going to meet me a little bit more. You’re gonna be exposed to the real me a little bit more. I can tell you I had to reintroduce myself to everybody I know. My mother my father. Listen, y’all never knew me. I want to introduce you to me. I’m just getting to know me. And you know what, anything that’s not growing is dead, so we better be changing. You know, people would say to me, they would hold me hostage. And they, seriously, emotionally hostage, and they’d say, Uh, she’s changing. The money’s changing her. And I’d say Listen, the money’s not changing me, God’s changing me. I’m changing, because that’s a natural part of life. We’re all supposed to change. Who wakes up and is the same way tomorrow and the day after that? Nobody is. Let the experience teach you and be real, man. And, um..there’s gonna be warfare involved. Because there’s some people who prefer deceptions, see…"- Lauryn Hill

eyeWrite a Poem - SWIM

I had a dream last night. I only remember bits & pieces of it, but it inspired this poem. It starts off a little depressing, but there's a good message in it, I promise! I hope it inspires you like it does me. Enjoy!

Swim

I woke up this morning and unaware of where I was.
Such a familiar place, but different enough to make me wrinkle my nose.
I tilted my head left.
The television was off.
No music, no news, no Real Housewives of NJ-
Nothing’s on the TV.
I walked to the window where I used to stare out at the people
Each with their own prerogatives, their own wishes and fears
What used to be a lively intersection is today
Blank.
Simply a road with unoccupied shacks along side it,
Call me a drama queen but I swear I saw tumbleweed having a race down the block.
I walked into the kitchen to an empty pantry and nothing but ice in the freezer.
The living room, unoccupied, uninviting and a waste of space.

I drew a blank when I began to try to fathom what has happened to this place where I’ve existed for almost 21 years.

From lively to alone
Endearing to trapping
And me, the endangered species.
What has came of my life?
Everything I used to know is gone
Everyone I used to love is unfamiliar
Or better yet, nonexistent.
Who has done this?
How could someone be so hateful?
Who could do something so coldhearted as to take away the fibers of my being?
Then at that moment, it came to me - I did it.
I allowed it.

The disappointments of my past entered into my present and they have the ability to ruin my future.
It has made me a prisoner in my own mind, a grey place which once used to be colorful.
A life that used to live which is not on life support.
But how does one believe in the people around them if they know inconsideration?
How does one believe in love when so many have done them wrong?
How does one believe in themselves when their disappointments being them such grief
It’s a never-ending cycle of misfortune that everyone goes through at one point or another
And the easiest thing to do is to drown in your own circumstances

However, I suggest you learn how to swim.

Chelsea Clinton walked down the aisle with her father Bill Clinton in a Vera Wang organza dress for her wedding to Marc Mezvinsky yesterday. According to reports – her wedding costs amounted to $5 Million dollars. "Who she think she is? Chelsea Clinton?!" (TLF).

Tiny & T.I.'s Secret Wedding

T.I. and longtime girlfriend Tiny are now man and wife. T.I., real name Clifford Harris, and Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, were married in a secret wedding ceremony on an island that was on the outskirts of Miami. Cottle is the mother of two of T.I.’s kids and been the rapper’s companion since 2001.

The wedding was positioned as a family trip to the media, but doubled as a wedding. Tiny wore a beautiful Valentino gown and the King of ATL, Tip was clad in Prada. Black August

Every month has its significance. In January, a new year begins. February is Black History Month, October, is the National month for Lupus awareness, and the list goes on and on. The same goes for August. The Black August tradition was established during the 1970s. It started in the California prison system by men and women of the Black/New Afrikan Liberation Movement. This was done as a means of acknowledging and studying the legacy of Afrikan resistance in the Americas, and honoring fallen freedom fighters like George and Jonathan Jackson, Khatari Gaulden, James McClain, Williams Christmas and Fred Hampton.

Black August promotes a "non-sectarian mass based" resistance culture inside and outside the prison walls across the United States. The brothers who participated in the collective founding of Black August wore black arm bands on their left arm and studied revolutionary works, focusing on the works of George Jackson. The brothers did not listen to the radio or watch television in August. Additionally, they didn't eat or drink anything from sun-up to sundown; and loud and boastful behavior was not allowed. The brothers did not support the prison's canteen. The use of drugs and alcoholic beverages was prohibited and the brothers held daily exercises, because during Black August, emphasis is placed on sacrifice, fortitude and discipline. Black August is still a time to embrace the principles of 1) unity; 2) self-sacrifice; 3) political education; 4) physical training; and 5) resistance.
Traditionally, Black August is a time to study history, particularly our history in the North American Empire. The first Afrikans were brought to Jamestown as slaves in August of 1619, so August is a month during which Blacks can reflect on our current situation and our self-determining rights.

August 1619 - Arrival of first African slaves in 13 colonies
August 21, 1791 - Haiti slave uprising for independence
August 30, 1800 - Gabriel Prosser's slave revolt discovered
August 21, 1831 - Nat Turner's slave rebellion
August 1850 - Underground Railroad
August 17, 1887 - Birth of Marcus Garvey
August 24, 1943 - Birth of Russell "Maroon" Shoatz
August 30, 1948 - Birth of Fred Hampton
August 8, 1949 - Birth of Dr. Mutulu Shakur
August 1963 - March on Washington
August 1965 - Watts Rebellion
August 25, 1967 - FBI circulates internal order to "disrupt" Black
Liberation groups
August 7, 1970 - Courthouse Slave Rebellion
August 18, 1971 - Capital of Republic of New Afrika attacked by FBI and
police
August 21, 1971 - Assasination of George Jackson
August 28, 1971 - Jalil Muntaqim and Nuh Washington captured
August 8, 1978 - Police raid on MOVE
August 17, 1995 - Mumia scheduled for execution; stopped by resistance
