The Dropping of a Jewel

(AllHipHop News) Compton, California rap star Game took offense to Miami rapper Rick Ross' song "B.M.F. (Blowin Money Fast)" in the latest issue of Complex Magazine. In the interview, Game seems to take offense to Rick Ross' glamorization of Black Mafia Family gang leader Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory and Gangster Disciples' founder, Larry Hoover. While Game rarely hides his own affiliation with The Bloods street gang, he stated that he didn't want to lead his fans in the wrong direction. "All these people thinking they're gangsta. And after the Rick Ross song B.M.F. everybody thinking they're Big Meech again, Larry Hoover. Nobody really should wanna be that or aspire to be that 'cause you're gonna end up in a coffin," Game told Complex. "And trust me man, most of these rappers outside of me, 50 Cent and maybe Waka Flocka and a few others, have never felt bullets man, ain't never had a brush with actually having your life erased. So a lot of these rappers out here playing. That's just not the message I'm trying to send across no more."

I had to take a minute to take my hat off to the Game for dropping these words of wisdom, and I encourage anyone who shares his sentiments to let themselves be heard as well. I fully believe that there are better things to do then idolize or try to emulate doom. There is no future of believing that you can re-enact what Big Meech or Larry Hoover have been able to do with their lives.
Anyone I have ever met who has took a stab at trying has failed, and with that failure came the realization that it is senseless to try and persuade others to follow. A brush with death is a serious and eye-opening experience. Take it from me personally, and if by chance you won't take these words as fact, ask around and I'm sure you will come across someone wise enough to tell you the truth. There's an old saying that "everyone cannot dance to every song." With that being said, don't go trying to be something you are not. "We Can" is what the leader says, and you should follow; and not in the footsteps of those who may never see daylight again.

Will the Real Rick Ross Please Stand Up

By now you all should know the turmoil between the REAL Rick Ross, and Rick Ross the rapper. If not, I can break it down... It is so simple as the man born as Rick Ross being ticked off that Mr. William Roberts, A.K.A., Rick Ross has used his name to profit tenfold with a very successful rap career. At the root of this aggravation, is the fact that the rapper has not been acknowledged or compensated Rick Ross in any fashion. While his lifestyle, more so - his name, is out in the public eye and being used for profitability; the real Rick Ross has no in this. Follow me?

Now that that's done, let's get to the root as I see it. I think more so than anything, Freeway Rick should be honored; or at least flattered that someone would want to use his name in tribute to what he has done - albeit nothing positive for the most part.

They say when you have passed, memories are all that remain. In this case Freeway Rick has the opportunity to live parallel to his memory, something not too many people can afford. In so many ways since his release, he has claimed to have relinquished his whole image. With that I believe he should leave the name as well, or rep if you will. Why profit from what you disown? If someone else feels they can do better with it, let them have it. His past is in his past - it is meant to be used as a lesson, a voice. In that, I feel like Ricky the rapper is using it as a model. Music has gone beyond the belief that these guys have truly lived it, none more the case than Rick Ross', who it has been proven was nothing of the sort. What he is however, is creative. As a result, he deserves the proceeds, and the REAL Rick Ross the recognition.

It is not hard to distinguish the two, and if it is, then you are not really hip to whats going on.

eyeWatch: "Hello GoodMorning"

Although the video for Diddy & Dirty Money's "Hello Good Morning" featuring Rick Ross and T.I. was released last week, but there's something about it that just make me post it. I love T.I.'s verse & swag in the video. Despite the fact that I think Kaleena and Dawn don't get enough shine, I think The Last Train To Paris will be a hit album. Hopefully we hear more from the two ladies, but since Diddy's in the equation, I don't know how likely that is. The video was directed by Hype Williams and is off the album, The Last Train To Paris, set to hit stores on June 29th.

Also, check out behind-the-scenes footage of "Hello Good Morning" the remix featuring Nicki Minaj. Happy watching!
