Skye's the Limit

Today's Toast To Repost is:
Skye's The Limit
An interview with Skye Townsend

She's an aspiring singer, songwriter, actress and fashionista! Who, you might ask? Skye Townsend. Yes, Skye is someone you might want to keep an eye on for the future. At just 16-years-old, this young lady has a fire burning deep within that will make her a superstar. Born the daughter of actor, comedian, film director, and writer, Robert Townsend, there's no doubt in our minds that Skye will continue on to do great things. elleELLEeye sat down with Skye (who was accompanied by her best friend Malcolm) and had an east coast to west coast interview via USTREAM. If you missed it live, here's what happened:

When did you start singing?
I was 3-years-old when I started singing.

Do you remember your first performance?
Yes, it was so scary, but I sang "Real Situation" by Bob Marley.

We know that you're a fan of Beyonce, but besides her, who inspires you to pursue music?
Definitely Billy Holiday and Lena Horne.

We saw the Angelique and Skye show on YouTube, are you also considering acting or comedy as a career?
Right now I’m training to become an actress.

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not making YouTube videos, singing or in school?
Sleep. It's important to get rest and take care of your body.

Do you play any instruments?
I used to play piano when I was younger, but I wasn't disciplined enough to stick with it.

Do you participate in any talent shows in school?
My school doesn't really have any shows like that, but I do participate in anything artistic.

Have you had any offes from record labels yet?
Righ now I can't dicuss that, but I am still unsigned and looking for a deal. I'm focusing on my singing and songwriting.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Oreo Cheesecake.

If you could do a collaboration with any male/female artist who would it be and why?
There are so many amazing people in the industry but I would work with anyone who has a lot of passion and drive. If I had to pick I would work with Wyclef, he's a genius.

What do you want the world to know about Skye?
That I am motivated and serious about what I do. And that I eat, sleep and breathe music.

What’s next for Skye?
I've been working on designing some fashion pieces. I plan to sell these pieces starting bids at $.99 on eBay.com. Other than that, I'm focusing on my singing and songwriting.

We wish Skye the best in all of her endeavors! Keep up with what's she's doing via:

ToP THIS: Leggings

I'm sure you've seen pretty much everyone rocking leggings. You can get a pair almost anywhere! But for this ToP THIS, I wanted to pick out some of the best ones I've seen online. I even attached a link for your shopping convenience ;)

You'll definitely break the bank with these sequin leggings, but if you compromise with the rest of the outfit, and wear shoes you already have, you might consider these. Nothing says party like disco ball legs!

Were all used to seeing the nylon/cotton leggings, so lets give velvet a try. These leggings feel good, and they're sure to keep you warmer than the average pair.

Nothing says sexy like a pair of VS lace leggings. What makes these different than the ordinary lace leggings you're used to seeing is the stirrups at the bottom. Rock a pair of these and you'll have all your friends saying "Oooh Girl! Where'd you get those leggings?!"

To get the leggings you've seen here, or to shop around check out at VictoriaSecret.com

To your left, you have the heart swirl leggings. They have just enough metallic to catch your eye without blinding you The heart shaped pattern adds will a hint of fun elegance to the perfect outfit.

In the center, you'll see a funky neon pair of leggings. I think this, with a cute basic oversized sweater would be a good match. Because these leggings have so much personality, its in your best interest to only wear solids with them.

Finally from Forever 21 on the left, I found the shredded stretch leggings. I personally love these and reportedly do does Nicki Minaj. You can wear sheer tights under these leggings if you're not ready to bear all, but if you're looking to spice things up, try wearing these leggings without the tights!

For these and other styles, check out here at
forever21.com

<-Can't seem to find a pair of jeans that fit perfectly? No worries! Get these stretch leggings with the denim print. Or get these classic black leggings with the added stirrups for an added twist

Graffiti

20-year-old heartthrob, Chris Brown, has been in the eye of the pubic since his debut in the music industry in 2005 as a young and talented artist and dancer. Recently he's been in headlines and on television screens worldwide for other reasons; but today, he will be on the charts, your favorite radio stations, and TV shows publicizing his new album, Graffiti!

I've listened to the album about five times today and he didn't let me down. Although I believe that his debut self-titled album is one of his best, you hear a different Chris Brown in Graffiti. It is hard listening to his lyrics without thinking, "Is he's talking about Rihanna?" but one thing that is admirable is the ability and willingness to have their personal experiences inspire their work.

Brown worked with Polow Da Don, Swizz Beatz, The Messengers and The Runners amongst others to produce the follow-up to Exclusive. The album was preceded by the single "I Can Transform Ya"; which is definitely one of my favorite records on the album. Brown stated,
"I wanted to change it up and really be different. Like my style nowadays, I don't try to be typical urban. I want to be like how Prince and Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder were. They can cross over to any genre of music."
And he did just that with the eclectic arrangement on the album. I'm sure he'll appear on Billboard's Pop, R&B, and Dance charts.

My favorite records are: "Lucky Me"; in which Chris expresses his gratitude and appreciation for what he has although he's had his downfalls in life and his career. I'm loving the 80s punk rock feel on the song "Pass Out", and I love the overall feel of "Girlfriend". Brown got his sexy on with R&B sensation Trey Songz on "Wait", and although I dislike the connotation between the song and his relationship with Rihanna, I love "Crawl".

Chris Brown definitely delivered and hopefully the public will be able to view him as the human being he is and accept that everyone makes mistakes. Good job Chris! Make sure you cop your copy of Graffiti!

Will you be supporting Chris Brown? What did you think of the album?
