According to theroot.com, Washington state attorney general Rob Mckenna is pushing for the FDA to ban the popular alcoholic beverage Four Loko nationwide. This push is the aftermath of a recent incident where 50 Central Washington University students became sick from drinking Four Loko's at a house party.

Four Loko is said to contain as much alcohol found in a six pack and as much caffeine as in five cups of coffee. I don't know about you guys but, this just sounds like a bad combination to me. Although, this is a cheap quick fix I truly believe its not worth risking your own health.

My Four Loko days are dead and gone, what about yours?

Go Green, Drink Up

HAPPY EARTH DAY

It's the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. So we're encouraged to use less energy, eat healthy, sit under a tree and enjoy nature. Yea, I'm sure we will all be engaging in those activities (maybe not), but here's one thing I'm sure the 21+ crowd will enjoy...an Earth Day Friendly COCKTAIL! Here are some recipes for you to indulge in. Happy mixing and drink responsibly.

Greentini Drink Recipe (Think Greentini): 2 oz vodka, 1.5 oz melon liqueur. Shake with ice and strain into a martini glass and garnish with a lime wedge.

Planetary Punch Drink Recipe: 1.25 oz vodka, .75 oz melon liqueur
.5 oz peach purée (if you can’t get peach purée, substitute a top-quality daiquiri mix), 1 oz orange juice, 1 oz pineapple juice. Shake all ingredients together with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Then drop a maraschino cherry in the bottom for the “planet”.

The lawn party Drink Recipe: 1.5 oz Square One Organic Vodka, .25 oz Maker’s Mark bourbon, .25 oz Aperol, .25 oz organic fresh squeezed tangerine or mandarin juice, Touch of organic agave nectar if needed. Shake all ingredients with ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Make your drinks virgin by using Tonic water or Sprite as a vodka alternative.

Superman!

Today in Mixology 101 we will be making a Superman cocktail. For this drink you will need:

*1/2 oz Blue Curacao liqueur
*1/2 oz Goldschlager® cinnamon schnapps
*1 dash grenadine syrup

Once you have your ingredients, here is what you're going to do: Shake Blue Curacao and Goldschlager in a shaker and strain. Sink grenadine to the bottom and serve.

Of course, it's that simple! Just don't go jumping off of any buildings thinking you can fly...and always remember to DRINK RESPONSIBLY!

eye'M Blushing!

Today in Mixology 101 we will be making an "eye'M Blushing!" Cocktail. Here is what you will need 1.5 oz. Gin, 1.0 splash Grenadine, 0.5 oz. Sour mix, and 0.5 oz. Triple sec. Once you have your ingredients, you will put all of them in a highball glass with ice, shake, and strain into a glass! That's it, you have an "eye'M Blushing!". effFriday: Weekend Drink "Sasha Fierce 151"

Good afternoon! Today in Mixology 101 we will be making a "Sasha Fierce 151" in celebration of Beyoncé's 28th Birthday! Beyoncé isn't much of a drinker, but we have to celebrate somehow. Here's what you'll need: 1 oz Bacardi® 151 rum and 10 oz Gatorade® Fierce Grape energy drink. Once you have your ingredients, fill a glass with ice. Next, you will pour 2 shots of Bacardi 151 into a cup full of Gatorade Fierce Grape. Mix well and drink.

There you have it! A "Sasha Fierce 151". Happy mixing and always remember to DRINK RESPONSIBLY!

effFriday: I'm effFINISHED, Taxi Please!

Today in Mixology 101 we will be making a Miami classic, Call Me A Cab. This drink will without a doubt have you effFINISHED! For some it's not that strong, but if you're not much of a drinker, yea you'll definitely need a cab. Here's what you will need: 1/4 oz Midori® melon liqueur, 1/4 oz peach schnapps, 1/4 oz coconut rum, 1/4 oz creme de bananes, 1/4 oz Stoli® Ohranj vodka, 1/4 oz Southern Comfort® peach liqueur, 2 1/2 oz cranberry juice, 2 1/2 oz pineapple juice, 2 1/2 oz Sprite® soda.

So, with all that said I'm sure you may want some friends to put in on this drink. But once you have all of the ingredients, here's what you do: Mix all ingredients together in a hurricane glass with ice, or combine in a blender. Add juices and sprite to fill glass, and serve.

eye'm Thirsty Thursday: Dark Knight

Hello class. Today in Mixology 101 we will be making a drink called Dark Knight. You will need 1 oz. Amaretto, 1 oz. Peach Schnapps, 1 oz. Triple Sec and Coca Cola. Once you have your ingredients, here are the mixing instructions:

1. Fill highball glass with ice
2. Add all three liquors
3. Fill with Coca-Cola
4. Garnish with an orange wheel on glass rim

eye'm Thirsty Thursday: Purple Rain

Welcome to Mixology 101. Today we will be making a Purple Rain Cocktail. For this drink you will need 1/2 shot grenadine, 1/2 shot peach schnapps (archers), 1/2 shot white rum, 3 count lemonade, 3 count sweet & sour mix, 1/2 shot Blue Curacao.

Once you have your ingredients you're going to fill a Collins glass 3/4 full with ice. Add the grenadine, peach schnapps and white rum into glass. Then fill with sweet and sour and lemonade. Drizzle around the edge of the glass with Blue curacao. It's that simple folks! Remember, blue (curacao) and red (grenadine) will always make PURPLE!

*Note: You may have to stir to get the full purple effect.

Today's drink in Mixology 101 is the Red Snapper. You will need 1 oz Crown Royal, ¼ oz Amaretto, and ¾ oz Cranberry Juice. Once you have everything, you pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice, shake well and strain into a shot glass or serve over ice in a rocks glass. Today in Mixology 101 we will be making Pink Panther Cocktails! You will need 1 oz. Amaretto, 1/2 oz. Vodka, 2 oz. Cream and 1 tsp. of Grenadine. Shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass. Happy drinking!

eyeDrink: Hennretto Apples =)

Here's a drink mix for the ladies and the gentlemen! It's called a Hennretto Apple. The ingredients you will need are: Hennessy cognac, Amaretto liqueur, and Pineapple Juice. Take 0.5oz of amaretto, 0.5oz of pineapple juice, and 1oz of Hennessy, pour over ice, shake shake shake and serve in a chilled glass or over ice. These make some good shots too. If it's too strong you can use 1oz of pineapple juice and 0.5oz of Hennessy. Happy mixing!

Here is a drink for the ladies if you're not a too big on drinking and looking for something with a tropical flavor. I'll call this one PineOrange Bay. You take 1 0z. of Pineapple Parrot Bay Rum and 0.5oz of Orange Fanta Soda and pour over ice. Make sure you add the Parrot Bay first so that the soda doesn't become flat. If you're going to drink vodka, you really should try drinking it in style. WHEN LIFE HANDS YOU LEMONS go out and buy Ciroc; which is the "official drink of the summer"! What better way to celebrate Independence Day than to either be at P. Diddy's Annual All White Party, or to chill at a cookout and have a few drinks with friends and family. Below you can find PTWITTY videos #44 and #45 with recipes for "The Diddy" and "The O.G.". As you will come to find out, all you need is vodka, excuse me, Ciroc Ultra Premium Vodka, and lemonade for #44 and add Welches Grape Juice for #45.

Here is also a drink mix you may want to try. Diddy posted the recipe via Twitter, "Special 4th of July weekend new ciroc diddy recipe!!!! Simply Raspberry lemonade and CIROC vodka!!! The TRUTH!!!! Try it."

Another drink you may want to try today is the "4th of July". You will need 0.5 oz Blue Curacao, 0.5 oz Grenadine, 0.5 oz OVAL (or CIROC) Vodka. Mix together with crushed ice in a glass and garnish with mint leaves.
