Gifted Bloggers: TLB

Blogging: A universal form of writing where people share their thoughts, opinions, photos, videos, etc. for the world to see. Some blog about music, relationships, and food, while others may choose to use their blog as a form of an open diary. Whatever your cup of tea is when it comes to blogging, you stumble upon your favorite blogs once you enter into the blogosphere. One blogger that I find to be gifted in what she does is The Lady Blogga.

The Lady Blogga is currently gearing up to release of her book, “The Little Things We Learn In Life” ; which is a 3 book series that focuses on three important aspects of life…“the Heart”, “the Grind”, “the Fam”. Book 1, “the Heart” is due out next month. ”the Heart” takes the reader on a myriad of journeys through various relationships. Relationships that are affected by some of the same things that are dealt with in real life. Mistresses, occupations, Social Networking… But it also gives the other side. Love, Happiness, Togetherness. The objective behind the book is to help the reader see beyond their own situation (thaladyblogga.com).

Other than preparing herself for becoming a published writer with a book on the shelves of your favorite bookstores (and hopefully, the New York Times Best-Sellers list), she's not afraid to speak her mind! Don't believe me?

eyeListen: "The Lies"

Many producers get their start fooling around with Fruity Loops Studio, and although some succeed and progress in their craft, that isn't the case for them all. Luckily, success is near for Slimbtz Da King as he's been on his grind on the production end gearing up for the release of his album, The Pandemic. Featuring a wide span of artists, Slimbtz Da King takes his production to a whole new level on this project. I can attest to how unexpectedly good he is and how much his sound has matured.

Today, I'm here to share with you a single off of The Pandemic entitled "The Lies", featuring Just Incredible. I've listened and can say that the track is simple, yet effective. When a song is good, and you have an artist that can compliment the music, you've created something special.
Knowing Slimbtz personally, I can already tell you that this record is only a smidgen of what you can expect from The Pandemic. Just Incredible did a good job lyrically, especially with his flow on the record. I appreciate the blend of the drums, and the effects that come in on the 2nd verse of the track. The sample was used well and altogether made for a good record. I can see a number of underground and mainstream artists jumping on this beat. You're probably wondering where the download link is, but you'll have to wait until November 16th for that! But for now, feel free to listen all you want and leave us some feedback. Happy listening!

eyePod: Power Remix

No one man should have all that POWER! The phrase may be true, but since Yeezy dropped the "Power Remix" with Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz, he's had people talking and the Internet buzzing. When the lyrics go hard, and the b-section on any track goes harder, it's easy to fall in love with a song.

Now everything I’m rhymin’ on cause a Ramadan
Been a don, prayin’ for the families lost in the storm
Bring our troops back from Iraq, keep our troops out of Iran
So the next couple bars, I’ma drop them in Islam
They say assalamu alaikum, say wa alaikum asalaam
That’s no Oscar Mayer bacon, you should run and tell your mom
Now the question is, how we gon’ stop the next Vietnam?
Keep Flex out of Korea, ’cause you know he drop bombs...

We're pretty sure most of you have heard it, but if not, Happy listening!

Free Trade + 30

Tru Statement has brought you music from M.A.E., Ayindé, and now Free Trade. Free Trade is the co-founder of Tru Statement and has released his latest project Free Trade - Plus 30. As a producer/emcee Free Trade's blend of Motown, hip-hop, & soul has virgin listeners shocked, jazz heads baffled, and hip-hop purists nodding their heads. A warm mix of sampled vinyl and live instrumentation (guitars, horns, rhodes, turntables, upright bass, etc) is what separates Plus 30 from other hip-hop records. The level of lyricism delivered by Free Trade is a true breath of fresh air; delivering a cadence that follows the footsteps of Pete Rock & CL Smooth , a youthful college sound resembling G Love & Special Sauce, and a vocal tone similar to Mike Posner.

The project was created in a bedroom in Orlando, FL, but included 30 contributors (musicians, designers, engineers) from all over the United States, hence the title of the album Free Trade - Plus 30.

"I contacted as many college students from around the U.S who still believe in honest and soulful music via email, text message, and Facebook, and created an entire album from my bedroom" says Free Trade.
Working within the parameters of new age media, Free Trade was able to have bass lines laid down in St. Louis, jazz samples flipped in the UK, horns tracked in Manhattan, keyboards recorded in Boston, and the list goes on. Most of the musicians involved in Plus 30 had no prior knowledge of one another, nor did they get to hear the final product until the project was finished, creating an unspoken faith between all 30 contributors.

MixTape Madness

You have to appreciate the artists out there who don't mind putting out their hard work, asking nothing in return except for their fans to listen. We all know someone who's done so, whether their famous or just a friend trying to fulfill a dream. Here are some mixtapes that you might enjoy. There's all free so don't hesitate to click the album art to download. Happy listening!

Willie (from Day 26) gives us his SexTape. A clever name for the sex symbol himself. The mixtape is filled with "baby-making" music and would definitely do the trick if one is trying to seduce...DOWNLOAD HERE

Our recently featured artists, the Oxymorrons, give us two mixtapes; Better Than McDonalds and Grass on the Field Play Ball - both short and sweet. Filled with eclectic sounds and shocking vibes, you'll like what you hear no matter what genre you're into. The Oxys fuse comedy, skits, instrumental, rap and singing into one...yea that sounds about right, like a bunch of Oxymorrons. DOWNLOAD HERE

Last but not least, In My Zone, a mixtape release from Chris Brown not too long after his album release. I guess Chris wasn't satisfied with the results of his fourth studio album Graffiti and chose to hit the world with even more music. Although I have yet to listen to this mixtape, I'm sure there are some records on there that are worth it. I hope the world won't shun Chris any longer for his actions and respect the music he's putting out. For In My Zone...DOWNLOAD HERE

Drunk with Iye-D

It's Monday, and for some that might come as a bummer from the thought of waking up for work, but in the world of the wide web, people partake in what is known as "Music Monday". This Monday is a little different though, and that's because this is elleELLEeye's first music post since our new web layout and we are also featuring a new artist: I.D. of TenStars Entertainment.

elleELLEeye has I.D's debut single "I'M DRUNK" off of his forthcoming album Identity Krises; which was produced by Slimbtz Da King and featuring Money Marley. The song is a very commercial, club banger that is sure to get you in the mood to party. I'm feeling the beat and the simplicity; which makes it that much easier to follow and sing alsong to the hook. I'll let you all hear it for yourselves. Happy Listening!

If you like I.D.'s single "I'm Drunk", you can expect that and much more on his anticipated album. There will be guest appearances from Lil' Mama, Romel Cashtro, Money Marley, Red Scarlet and Ladiey Uneak.

More leaked music from Jay-Z. By September 11th will there be anything new to hear off his album The Blueprint 3? This track was produced by Kanye West, who is also featured on the track. It's a short track, but I guess he only needed two and a half minutes to get his point across. Here it is: "Hate".

This Day in Music: July 20, 1999

Question: What do you think the number one record was in the US ten years ago? Well, I was shocked too because the answer is Ricky Martin - Livin La Vida Loca. Yes, on July 20, 1999, this was the number one single. I was only 12-years-old in the seventh grade when that came out? It seems like yesterday lol. Happy listening!
