Guess what the U.S. found out?

A recent study showed that the same pesticides (known scientifically as Organophosphates) used in gardens and in bug repellent was discovered in newborns' blood cords.

These are toxic to young children. As the study noted, youth with this prenatal exposure to the pesticides have a lower competency score than their peers by the age of seven.

Take note! If you are pregnant in the summer, be cautious, and watch what you eat!

eyeRemember: Shannon Tavarez

At just 11 years-old, 'Lion King' Broadway star, Shannon Tavarez loss her battle to leukemia. The young fighter played the role of Young Nala, and succumbed to the disease after a umbilical cord transplant she had at the end of the summer. Many celebs, including Beyonce and Alicia Keys rallied support for her. Unfortunately, a bone marrow match could not be found.

Our hearts go out to her family, as a few of us from Team elleELLEeye know what it is like to know someone who passed from this disease, is still dealing with it, or know someone who has died young as a result of a terminal illness.

Pllleaasseeee tell me you remember this!

This great book written by Don Freeman in 1968 tells the heartwarming story of a scruffy teddy bear named Corduroy. He is most famous for the missing button on his overalls, which he tries to find as he wanders at night in a department store. In the end, he finds something greater when a little girl buys him, and he finally has a home.
