Award-winning rapper Wyclef Jean has officially announced that he is running to be the President of Haiti.
It is no surprise that he's making this drastic political move; especially since the acclaimed artist has always shown love for his country.
When the earthquake rocked the island back in January 2010, Wyclef’s organization, the Yele Haiti Foundation, sent money and supplies to help the devastated population.Wyclef has served as an ambassador since 2007, and meets all residency requirements to be considered for candidacy. He moved to New York as a young child, and later became member of the hip-hop group, The Fugees. He then went on to have a successful solo career as an artist and producer.
In preparation for the presidential election scheduled for November 28th, he will strongly address his hopes to serve as a neutral ally, and rebuild the city from the earthquake’s aftermath, improve education, security, jobs, and healthcare.
Love for your country can’t run deeper than that.
