eyeTECH: Wii Up, Flip Down

Tech News for all of you Bizzybodies that use them, and all of you who watch your health:

Cisco (the makers of Flip Cam) has reported that they are discontinuing the hand-held devices due to budget cuts. The once popular item has been defeated by other electronics such as smart phones, leaving the CEO at Cisco no choice but to disband it in an effort to rebuild the company.

Still want one? Better hurry soon!

Oh wait, there's more!

A new study in Canada found that patients who suffered from stroke were more than three times likely to show improvement in arm and hand function when they played video games, versus those who received regular therapy.

This may lead to more digital integration for stroke victims in rehabilitation.

Where did 'Wii' think of that?

Reinventing Reading

We've heard the cliches before..."Reading is fundamental", and "Knowledge is power."...but I don't think the world really understands how important reading is. I'll admit, I'm not the biggest fan of opening a book during my leisure time, but I do think that in order to grow, you have to introduce yourself to new things. To learning new words and reading new material are excellent ways of growing and expanding  your mind. For those who think that reading is for nerds, I think we should give a round of applause to Amazon and Barnes & Noble for the reinvention of reading; The Kindle and the Nook!

I would say that technology has hindered the generation we live in today from actually opening up a paperback book or reading a newspaper, but The Nook & Kindle make reading cool again.
With the way gadgets are being brought into the world today, it's only a matter of time before everyone has an electronic reading device and books become cool again. I love the way technology has worked it's way into something as simple as not having to lick your finger to turn a page.

What are your thoughts on reading ...the Nook/Kindle ...and the state of technology today?

eyeWant: A BlackBerry Playbook

And the battle continues...iPhone or BlackBerry? Whatever your choice is, you now have another gadget to add to your wish list. Blackberry users, wallow no more, you now have a PlayBook. Yes, this is RIM’s BlackPad tablet device to the left which should be unveiled in a few days and hit stores this Holiday season.

There was no mention of on board storage capacity during the keynote, though the devices we just spied in our eyes-on post are labeled 16GB and 32GB on their back panels. The PlayBook will be capable of 1080p HD video, and comes equipped with an HDMI port as well as a microUSB jack, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1. The device clocks in at a svelte 5.1- by 7.6-inches, is only 0.4-inches thick, and weighs just 400g (or about 0.9 pounds).

While that could paint an inelegant picture for many iPad users, it’s also a signal that RIM initially will market the device to its own core customers. The BlackPad reportedly will sport as many as two cameras, with one pointed at the user for videoconferencing.

Here's how the PlayBook measures up to the iPad:

With the economy in such a rut, many are wondering why doesn't the government just print up a bunch of money until we get back on our feet, right? Well, it looks like some of that wish will be coming true. On February 10, 2011, a new will One-Hundred-Dollar-Bill go into circulation. Why? Well, this Benjamin will be equipped with a 3-D Security Ribbon. This ribbon is has images of bells and 100s that move and change from one to the other as the bill is moved. A second feature is called Bell in the Inkwell. The bell has special ink that changes color from green to bronze when the bill is moved. So say goodbye to the counterfeit and hello to the new and improved Benjis.

Headphones Poppin' Like...KOTORI

When getting dressed I'm sure you never think about your headphones as an accessory, but in all actuality they are. Although my headphones are black, I've had all colors from purple to green to pink. I hate paying money for headphones and although I would love a pair of Beats they're a bit pricey.

Meet KOTORI! They have over 100 variations of colors, but if youre not satisfied with those, you can easily design your own by selecting the color of each of the 10 components, or just hit shuffle and see what happens randomly.

Do you like these headphones? Beware: the Kotori site is in a foreign language, so good luck buying them =)

WiSH LIST: iPad

Just when you thought Apple was trying to make iPods smaller and smaller, the iPad came along. Apple unveiled its new tablet-style iPad and plans on selling it starting at $499. The iPad resembles an iPhone, but larger. Apple will sell some iPad models with data plans from AT&T, with no contract required. Apple Inc. will have to convince consumers, many of whom already have Internet-connected phones, computers and TVs, that they’ll want to pay that much for such a device, when many small, lightweight “netbooks” cost less than $400.

CEO Steve Jobs says the iPad will be better for reading books, playing games and watching video than either a laptop or a smart phone. The initial price is likely to drop. Apple sold the first iPhone for $599 but slashed the price to $399 after a few months, upsetting early buyers.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE iPad?

DJ Hero

Fikee Fikee "Hi my name is...H to the Izzo V to the izz A." You may call that gibberish, but I call it watching too much television. If you haven't seen the commercial for one of the newest game systems, you must not know about DJ Hero. What's that you ask? It's none other than the DJ version of the infamous game Guitar Hero, but in my opinion it's so much cooler!

If I could get my hands on a bag big enough, this would definitely throw in it! DJ Hero would also be a great Christmas gift ::AHEM:: for a loved one. It'll set you back $100 - $200 depending on your gaming system. Check out the commercial, happy watching/shopping!

Coke Can

The Unibody Coca-Cola Can

It doesn't only look beautiful, and it would make Jon Ive and Steve Jobs wet, but this naked Coca-Cola can would help save energy while reducing air and water pollution. Would it really make a difference?

The naked can help to reduce air and water pollution occurred in its coloring process. It also reduces energy and effort to separate toxic color paint from aluminum in recycling process. Huge amount of energy and paint required to manufacture colored cans will be saved. Instead of toxic paint, manufacturers process aluminum with a pressing machine that indicates brand identity on surface.

What do you think of the can? Leave a COMMENT!

Beats

In the attempt to write a post on these headphone with the infamous "b" on the side of them, and bash everyone wearing them as a fashion statement, I would've felt pretty dumb. Why? Because it looks like the headphones were intended to be just that!

Dr. Dre teamed up with Monster to create his line of headphones. He says that "People aren’t hearing all the music. Artists and producers work hard in the studio perfecting their sound. But people can’t really hear it with normal headphones. Most headphones can’t handle the bass, the detail, the dynamics. Bottom line, the music doesn’t move you. With Beats, people are going to hear what the artists hear, and listen to the music the way they should: the way I do."

P.S. - At this very moment I JUST (like seriously just now) realized that Will.I.Am says in the song "Boom Boom Pow" "I be rocking them Beats"! Well I always knew he said that, but it didn't register.
