BHM Spotlight: Lady With a RedEye
eyesInDaSpot: Midnight Madness, RECAP!
We kicked off the first weekend of December by hosting Midnight Madness: Eric Sosa & the Oxymorrons Live ft. Ayindé. The event took place on the campus of SUNY College at Oneonta at the Hunt Union Waterfront Café. We hosted the performances, and they were great; the best I've ever seen these guys perform before! The ladies and gents loved them, the energy was there and on a 10. Once we finished with the performance portion, DJ Omar & DJ S.Whit transitioned the rest of the night into party mode, and we're sure you can use your imaginations with that one. Overall the event was a success! Take a look at some photos from the event below...

The Newest Eye
Hi, this is Arissa the newest eye to the elleELLEeye team. I'm a 21-year-old aspiring journalist from LI. Technically, I'm the current events and fashion blogger. I'll be sharing with you all the important issues that affect our community and world. I'll also be discussing the latest fashion, and things that I particularly find to be dope.
The reason that I chose to write about current events, is because I feel that we need to stay informed in order to be productive citizens. I chose to write about fashion because everyone loves to look and feel fabulous! So, it's a basic balance of necessity and luxury; which is what I'm all about. I love to try to keep the balance in my life, and I hope to bring that quality to elleELLEeye. TSSOH Recap
The Sweet Sound of Hip-Hop
The event acted as a benefit concert for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, at Santos Party House in NYC. The concert feature showcased five talented acts; Young Flame, Eric Sosa, M.A.E, Oxymorrons, and Ayindé. The show was opened up by artists from Epiff@ny Music, music was provided by DJ ENIGM@, and the show itself was hosted by our friend, Miguel Hernandez. There were drinks, Candy Land specials, candy, cupcakes, th whole 9, but most of all, a GREAT time.
All of the performer smashed their sets and we raised over $1000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, thanks to you all! Footage will be available soon, but for now you can enjoy some snapshot from those that attended. If you weren't there, you missed one hell of a show, but we missed you!

Like elleELLEeye, we present the audience with just about everything and try our best to keep up with what is going on. Honestly, I'm not surprised. I've been a humble and modest individual my whole life and for the first time this blog has been something that I've started on my own, and has opened (and closed) a lot of doors for me. I've had the opportunity to work with, meet, and interview people that may not have crossed my path otherwise; and for that, I am grateful.
I'm happy and proud to work with a staff that continues to grow. Although I go blog crazy at times, they have been played significant role in the number of posts, topics, and writing that you see on the blog. And for the person who coined the phrase, "There's no I in team"; let me introduce you to the eyes in mine...

You've had some crazy ideas that I've hated, and said "okay" to, and some that were great, but just didn't work out for us. The ideas of "FASHiON FiGHT", "WoRD UP", "ToP THiS" started with a thought from you, and now they're some of my favorite things about elleELLEeye. What inspired you to want to become a performer? I graduated in 2006 from Utica College with a degree in Communication Arts. I like working with kids and I worked at Harlem Children’s Zone. After working there, I worked at a financial company for 9 months and that just put me to sleep so I needed something that would keep me going. You should do something you love rather than what other want you to do. I didn’t fall asleep on stage so I knew that performing was it. I knew that I could write but I had to ask myself,"Can I write for people to listen to me?" and that's when I began slam poetry. - Shanelle Gabriel

My instinct has taught me quite wellhow to dispel a pheromone
2 those who wish to listen,
or read the new word and if you don’t mind sitting.
I will blog, yes… but I’ve always been a writer first.
And so I hope you do not mind from
time to time if I give you the buzz on media,
health, and explore literature’s girth.
I would not think to call myself the Queen, no.
I’m more of a worker, and I do not mind building up the comb.

Allow Me to Introduce Myself
Allow me to introduce myself; Where do I begin, I guess with the truth. Truth is, I'm an average guy with beyond average visions and ambitions - centered around my writing and articulation.
My writing is who I am - my perspective. Subjective? Maybe, but with object in my mind. My calling is to be heard, and to hear others. My experience has encompassed the full gamut of life - the ups, the downs and everything in between. With every breath, I try to epitomize the theory or cliche rather - well rounded. Ever wonder what that truly means? I wake up and go to sleep with that thought. The only definition I have come up with is my life.
I could be the guy next door, I could be the guy whom passes you everyday unnoticeable until you take the time. Since we are as yet unfamiliar, I guess I'll go first and introduce...
